This is a list of Norwich City F.C. managers from the founding of Norwich City F.C. in 1902 until the present.
Division Three (South) (then the joint lowest tier of the Football League), a period that was distinguished by "a thrilling giant-killing sequence which took them to the FA Cup semi-finals" in 1959.[1][2] Shortly thereafter, the club won its first major trophy, the 1962 League Cup.[3] In 1972, the club finally reached the pinnacle of the league structure, with their first promotion to the top tier.
second major trophy, the League Cup in 1985,[4] reaching two more FA Cup semi finals,[5] finishing fifth, fourth and third in the top division and beating Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup.
Ken Brown holds the record for most games in charge - 367 between 19xx and 19xx.[6], achieving xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Excluding caretaker managers, the shortest reigns were those of xxxxxx and xxxxxx, who both managed just 20 games, the latter of whom was unfortunate that his tenure was ended by the outbreak of World War Two.
Norwich's managerial turnover has been ....
Unsurprisingly, most Norwich managers (xx/xx) have been English, but a notable minority have been Scots, dating from the very start....
xxx men have returned for a second spell as Norwich manager, most recently Gary Megson whose first spell was as caretaker, and also fulfilled roles as a player and an assistant manager at the club. Mike Walker's two spells ended very differently; success in the Premiership and UEFA Cup led to him being approached to be Everton boss. After his second spell, he left football...

[edit] Assessment
While Norman Low and George Swindin won 50% of their games (see below), in 2002,[7] as part of Norwich City's centenary celebrations, the Eastern Daily Press assessed Norwich's managers by awarding three points for each win and one point per draw. When the points were averaged, they revealed a top five of:
P W D L F A Av
1 George Swindin (1962) 20 10 5 5 41 25 1.75
2 Martin O'Neill (1995) 26 12 9 5 46 29 1.73
3 Norman Low (1950-55) 258 129 56 73 449 324 1.72
4 Archie Macaulay (1957-61) 224 105 60 59 394 296 1.67
5 John Bowman (1905-07) 78 31 23 24 114 92 1.49
The bottom five were:
27 Jimmy Jewell (1939) 20 6 4 10 23 37 1.10
28 Charles O'Hagan (1920-21) 21 4 9 8 17 24 1.09
29 John Deehan (1994-95) 58 13 22 23 65 84 1.05
30 Cyril Spiers (1946-47) 65 15 12 38 95 148 0.88
31 Gary Megson 32 5 10 17 31 41 0.78
[6] The paper acknowledged the deficiencies of this rough and ready comparison between eras; regarding the highly placed Norman Low, they wrote "It’s only fair to point out that the Canaries never managed to get out of Division Three South during his stewardship", while for Ron Saunders, ranked 11th, "he ... spent the majority of his time rubbing shoulders with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal").[6]
