Candy first appeared as Kula's starting striker in The King of Fighters 2000. She is an android created by NESTS to watch Kula's activities for signs of any betrayal. Along with Diana and Foxy, she is also given the task of assisting Kula in fights. When Kula destroys the main Zero Cannon, Candy shields her descent from space, sacrificing her body as it is badly burned from Earth's atmosphere. Her actions were justified by friendship, something that Kula had previously not known.[1] She is hinted to being rebuilt in the series' later titles.

K9999 (pronounced K Four-Nine) is a video game character in The King of Fighters series who debuts as a member of the NESTS team in The King of Fighters 2001. He was believed to be copyrighted by Eolith though SNK has expressed public disfavor for K9999 -presumably due to the explicitness of his tribute- and it is unlikely he will appear in the future.

K9999 is entirely based on Tetsuo Shima from Akira. He has Tetsuo's hairstyle and wears a similar cloak. His ability to transform his arm into a long tentacle closely resembles Tetsuo's mutations and both also possess the ability to create a psionic shield. Additionally, Nozomu Sasaki voices both characters. Fans of the series have simply referred to K9999 as "Tetsuo", either mockingly, or simply because of the inevitable similarities and easier pronunciation. As a special feature, in KOF 2002, K9999 shares a special introduction animation with the cloned Kyo Kusanagi. This is due to the fact that Kusanagi and K9999 share the same voice actors as Kaneda and Tetsuo respectively.

After the failure of Krizalid and the disappearance of K', NESTS decided to comb their research for errors. All of their creations were born from normal people with pre-existing and conflicting genes - what they needed was a malleable entity, from which they would build the perfect clone. That was the premise behind the creation of K9999. Built from the ground up, K9999 wielded an exorbitant amount of power. His main purpose was to dispatch the rogue creations that had escaped from NESTS' grasp. Though K9999 loathed his existence and detested social contact, he found a friend in a female named Angel. Angel was an agent of NESTS more interested in K9999's emotions than his possible potential. A man not to be tampered with, K9999 has a short temper and is easily driven to violence. He bears a great hatred towards his rival, K'.

[edit] Krizalid

Information
Birthplace Flag of Ireland Ireland (October 23, 1970)
Blood type AB
Fighting style Fights using fight data stored in his battle suit fed through his body
Likes Collecting clones of celebrities, his underlings, sports drinks,[3] butter sandwich crackers
Dislikes Meetings with no significance, people with a certain mustache (2001)

Krizalid (クリザリッド Kurizariddo?) acts as the mid and final boss of The King of Fighters '99. He was designed to be a stylish and earnestly strong boss, though the supervising designer at the time admits, "I think I overdid it a little." A number of Krizalid's unused graphics were made available to the public in the Dreamcast release of the title.[4] He makes another appearance as a one of Original Zero's Strikers in The King of Fighters 2001.

He was made to be the Ultimate Kyo clone, outfitted with a special suit to feed data of fighters into his body during battle. This was achieved by cloning K' (rather than Kyo directly). As a side effect, he gained some of K's memories and believed Whip to be his sister. He was ordered to activate the thousands of Kyo clones around the world by using his suit. In order to gather the battle data necessary for the activation period, he fights the winning team of the tournament. After his defeat, his superior, Zero neutralizes the Kyo clones and kills Krizalid by throwing a boulder to crush him. Heidern inquires if Krizalid remembers his real name. He simply cannot remember and dies shortly after. He is revived later by the original Zero and fights along side him in the 2001 tournament. What happened to him following the battle is unknown. He has yet to make another canonical appearance since then.

Krizalid is an extremely powerful fighter sporting an inevitable anti-air move, high-gauge projectiles and dash attacks that are somewhat inescapable. Krizalid's Mid-Boss form isn't as powerful as his End-Boss self. Krizalid, like K', also has the ability to use flames, and some people consider Krizalid as the second clone of Kyo Kusanagi. Like most SNK Bosses, Krizalid is ridiculously strong, and inflicts above average damage, but suffers from having a poor quality AI if the player finds a "boring pattern" to take down Krizalid.

Zero (ゼロ Zero?) is the final boss in The King of Fighters 2000. He is one of the higher-ranked agents of "NESTS", a fictional organization that desired to take over the world and the clone to Zero. In the developer's comments section on the King of Fighters Anniversary Site, KOF series' producer, C.A.C Yamasaki, admits basing Zero's design off a certain character (believed to be Han) from the manga Fist of the North Star.[5] The names of his moves mirror the names of techniques used by the three Rashō, Kaioh, Hyou and Han (creators have also alluded to the homage as intentional).[6]

During The King of Fighters '99, Zero was commanded to watch over the performance of the Kusanagi cloning process, set forth by one of their lower ranked officers, Krizalid. Acting as the project supervisor, he monitored all actions done by Krizalid and also analyzed the performance of K'. After he neutralizes the Kyo clones and terminates Krizalid, he begins to secretly build his own weapon from NESTS' technology called the "Zero Cannons", setting it to operate with the same technology found in Krizalid's battle armor. He sets his plans into motion in The King of Fighters 2000. There, he impersonates Ling, a military commander and close friend to Heidern. Using his Ling persona as a decoy, he tricks and captures Heidern to stop the military resistance against him. He then fights the winning team of the tournament, planning to use their fighting capacity to power his array of Zero Cannons. Depending on the actions of the player, his plans are foiled by either Heidern or Kula, who was sent by NESTS to execute him for his treacherous acts.[7]

Original Zero (ゼロ(オリジナル) Zero (Orijinaru)?) appears as a sub-boss in The King of Fighters 2001 and is the real Zero; the Zero in The King of Fighters 2000 is his clone. He was created because the supervising designer to his character claimed to be dissatisfied with Zero's design in 2000, hinting that ideas such as his black lion pet and this newer design were designed but not used. He is recognized by developers to be the first boss to surpass Krizalid -the supervising designer's previous character- in both fighting prowess and presence.[9]

Unlike his clone, Zero is extremely loyal to the NESTS syndicate and was disgusted to learn of his clone's attempted coup d'état. He was resting in NESTS' main headquarters during the events of 2000 and was unaware of his clone's actions until later. He was ordered by the leader of NESTS to resume their primary plan of world conquest. Since the fighting data of the world's fighters had already been gathered and saved in the main database of NESTS' computers, the cartel planned to be rid of them and take over the then helpless planet. Willing to clear his reputation of his clone's actions, Zero is commanded to destroy the winners of The King of Fighters tournament. He traps the winning team in a space ship that was disguised as a blimp. He then informs the team about their real destination to NESTS' main headquarters in outer space as well as other information concerning NESTS' intentions. When he is defeated by the player, he urges the team to escape the collapsing ship and presumably dies honorably on board the vessel.

Similar to the series' previous sub-boss Kula, Zero has three Strikers to his disposal: Krizalid, the renegade Flying Brigands leader Ron, and his black pet lion Glaugan.

Blood type AB

Dislikes Any other god
Special skill Zen meditation

Igniz (イグニス Igunisu?) is the final boss in The King of Fighters 2001. Igniz is 56 years old[10] although his beauty makes him appear young for his age. His handsome and youthful appearance was specifically created at the sponsors' request.[11] He becomes the leader of NESTS after he killed his father, Nests.

Igniz hosts the KOF 2001 tournament in hopes of becoming a new god, deciding to test his new found power against the finalists. His hopes were short-lived when he is defeated by the player. Cursing his failure and declaring himself a demon instead, Igniz attempts to destroy the planet by plummeting NESTS' main headquarters out of orbit. The fortunate passengers in the falling station survive the heat inside the space station and the planet remains in one piece (apparently thanks to Ron). Igniz's death signals the end of the NESTS saga.
