List of NCAA Division III Institutions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following American colleges and universities are classified as Division III for NCAA competition.

Notes:

  • Following the normal standard of U.S. sports media, the terms "University" and "College" are ignored in alphabetization, unless necessary to distinguish schools (such as Boston College and Boston University) or actually used by the media in normally describing the school, such as the College of New Jersey.
  • Schools are also alphabetized by the names they are most commonly referred to by sports media, with non-intuitive examples included in parentheses next to the school name.
  • The abbreviation "St.", for "Saint", is alphabetized as if it were spelled out.
  • Eight Division III schools that played at the highest level of individual sports before the NCAA began tiering schools into divisions are allowed to offer athletic scholarships in one men's sport and one women's sport. In those sports only, these schools participate as Division I. See the main Division III article for more details on this arrangement.
