List of Megabus routes

Megabus, a no-frills bus brand of Stagecoach Group, is a provider of discount bus service along 20 routes in Great Britain, and 13 routes in the United States and the Canadian province of Ontario. Routes are listed by location of operation.

These are the current Megabus services operated on the island of Great Britain. Where service has been withdrawn to a city, but the route remains (except for the M12, where additions and withdrawals are noted in the Notes column), the cities withdrawn from the service are noted in italics.

All service is operated by Stagecoach Group subsidiaries unless otherwise noted. Accessible services are noted in the table.

M2 Bournemouth - Ringwood - Winchester - London 1 March 2004 Winchester added from 18 April 2005. Change of vehicle required at Winchester for Oxford, Coventry, Birmingham Airport, Birmingham, Manchester (from 28 April 2008) and Leeds (from 19 May 2008). See M34.
M4 Portsmouth - Southampton - Winchester - London 1 March 2004 Express service from Porthsmouth to London until 27 March 2006. Change of vehicle required at Winchester. Passengers may travel onto Oxford, Coventry, Birmingham Airport, Birmingham, Manchester (from 28 April 2008) and Leeds (from 19 May 2008). See M34.
M6 Plymouth - Exeter - London 1 March 2004
M7 Swansea - Cardiff - London 1 March 2004 Swansea service withdrawn on 12 June 2005.
M8 Dundee - Perth - Glasgow 16 February 2006 Joint service with Citylink

M12 Newcastle - Sunderland - Middlesbrough - Leeds - Sheffield - London 28 June 2004 Addition dates:

This route has had several direct and shuttle services from time to time. It is currently one continuous trip. Tibshelf services was used as a transfer station for service for two shuttles:
  • To and from Sheffield and Chesterfield from 10 October 2004 until 17 April 2005, when Chesterfield service was withdrawn.
  • To and from 18 April 2005 to 26 March 2006, a shuttle for service to and from Newcastle and Scotch Corner. After Scotch Corner was added to the M20 line, Megabus stopped serving Tibshelf services.

Originally withdrawn on 11 March 2007, but reintroduced as Leicester - London (non-stop) from 1st August 2007, one journey each way. Extended to Nottingham from 18 April 2005 and extended to Chesterfield from 5 December 2005. Chesterfield service withdrawn on 14 May 2006.
M14 Cheltenham - Gloucester - Swindon - Reading - London 5 September 2004 Swindon added from 6 December 2004. Reading added from 20 November 2006.
M15 Liverpool - Stoke-on-Trent - London 10 October 2004 Stoke-on-Trent added from 13 June 2005
M17 Lancaster - Preston - Manchester - London 28 November 2005 Lancaster service withdrawn on 26 February 2006.
M20 Aberdeen - Dundee - Perth - Ferrytoll - Edinburgh - Newcastle - Scotch Corner - Sheffield - London 27 March 2006 At busy times, the M20 is split into two services, the main service runs directly between London and Edinburgh, with the 'Service Bus' running to the stops in between as required. Customers traveling to and from Inverness must transfer in Perth.
M20 Shuttle Inverness - Perth 27 March 2006 Transfer at Perth for the main line.
M34 Leeds - Manchester - Birmingham - Birmingham Airport - Coventry - Oxford - Winchester -Southampton - Portsmouth 28 April 2008 Northbound service under M4 to Winchester. Change of vehicle required for Ringwood and Bournemouth. Leeds added 19 May 2008.
M90 Inverness - Perth - Edinburgh 8 September 2003 Extended to Inverness from 23 August 2004.
X5 Oxford - Cambridge 31 January 2005 Service operated by Stageocach East as a Stagecoach Express service, but seats can be booked through Megabus.
900 Edinburgh - Glasgow 8 September 2003 Joint service with Citylink. Numbered M8 until 5 September 2004, and a joint service with Motorvator until 20 November 2005.
Oxford Tube Oxford - London 4 August 2003 Service operated by Stageocach Oxford as Oxford Tube, but seats can be booked through Megabus. Formerly the M40 until 14 November 2004.

Megabus provides services on the following lines in the United States and Canada. Route numbers are organized as follows:

  • M1-M9: From Chicago
  • M10-M19: From Los Angeles
  • M20-M29: From New York City. NOTE: The M25 does not use Megabus branding.

M3 Chicago - Toledo - Cleveland - Pittsburgh April 10, 2006 A stop in Toledo was added on September 11, 2006. A stop in Pittsburgh was added April 2, 2007, but withdrawn on September 16, 2007 due to insufficient ridership.
M5 Chicago - Normal - St. Louis - Columbia - Kansas City April 10, 2006 The route was extended to Kansas City on April 2, 2007. A stop in Columbia was added on March 13, 2008.
M6 Chicago - Indianapolis - Columbus - Louisville and/or Cincinnati April 10, 2006 Service to Columbus was initially withdrawn June 4, 2006 due to low ridership, but was restored on April 2, 2007. Service to Louisville withdrawn September 16, 2007 due to low ridership. Overnight trips serve both terminals.
M7 Chicago - Champaign - Memphis March 27, 2008
M12 Los Angeles - Oakland - San Francisco August 8, 2007 Route operates only until June 22, 2008.
M21 New York-Penn Station - Baltimore - Washington, D.C. May 30, 2008 Stops in Baltimore for travel to and from New York City only. Buses are equipped with Wi-Fi.
M22 New York-Penn Station - Boston May 30, 2008 Buses are equipped with Wi-Fi.
M23 New York-Penn Station - Philadelphia May 30, 2008 Service offered in conjunction with Philadelphia Trolley Works. Buses are equipped with Wi-Fi.
M24 New York-Penn Station - Buffalo Airport - Toronto-Royal York May 30, 2008 Buses on both M24 services are equipped with Wi-Fi. M24 to and from the PABT stops in Binghamton for travel to and from Buffalo or Toronto only.

M25 New York-PABT - Atlantic City casinos May 30, 2008 Operated by Academy Bus Lines, but seats can be booked through Megabus.
