[edit] Heroic Warriors
[edit] 1981-1982
- He-Man, "the most powerful man in the universe", alter-ego of Prince Adam.
- Man-At-Arms is Teela's foster father. Since Man-At-Arms is actually a title, not a name, the character is also known as Duncan. Man-At-Arms designs and builds weapons and other technology for the royal family. Duncan knows Adam's secret identity, and acts as mentor and teacher to the young prince.
- Teela is Captain of the Royal Guard and often assists He-Man in his battles. She is the daughter of the Sorceress, though she does not know this; Man-At-Arms has raised her from infancy at the Sorceress' behest. Teela is characterized by a strong personality, and one of her duties is to teach combat skills to Prince Adam. She frequently berates him for his careless and worry-free attitude, but is fond of him nonetheless.
- Stratos is a humanoid with the power of flight and energy projection. He lives in the kingdom of Avion as the leader of Bird People.
- Zodak is the Cosmic Enforcer who is generally associated with the good guys, but takes a neutral standpoint helping both good and evil sides when they need it most. He was originally packaged as an evil warrior, and different media have provided radically differing interpretations of his character.
- Battle Cat is He-Man's faithful feline companion, a fighting armored tiger who carries him into battle. When He-Man is in the form of Prince Adam, Battle Cat is Cringer, who lacks the bravery of Battle Cat and runs away from just about everything.
[edit] 1983
- Man-E-Faces is an actor who can change his faces from a human face to a beast face to a robot face. He also adopts the abilities and traits of the face he puts on.
- Ram-Man is a sturdy warrior with poor verbal skills who runs down most of his obstacles. In the 1983 original series, he is rather short and resembles a dwarf, whereas in the 2002 series he is a very large man with a disproportionately small head. He is also shown to be afraid of the dark.
- Zoar, the fighting falcon, is depicted in early portrayals as a separate character from the Sorceress.
[edit] 1984
- Orko is a magician from the parallel dimensional world of Trolla. Orko's magical abilities vary, depending on his location. On Eternia, Orko is inept, with his spells often backfiring with humorous results. By contrast, on his homeworld of Trolla, Orko is a master magician. He moves around by levitating and often serves as the comic relief. His face is concealed by a floppy hat and heavy scarf; according to legend, members of his people only show their visage to their one true love.
- Buzz-Off is a humanoid bee. His species is known as the Andreenids in the 2002 version.
- Mekaneck can stretch his neck to incredible lengths. This enables him to serve as a scout. Man-At-Arms is the one who gave him his extending prosthetic neck.
- Fisto is an extra-strong warrior with an enlarged metal right hand. In the 2002 series he is Man-At-Arms's brother.
[edit] 1985
- Sy-Klone is a mechanized being who can generate winds by rotating his torso or his arms.
- Roboto is a robotic warrior. In the 2002 version, he is a chess-playing robot, built by Man-At-Arms, who upgrades himself into a fighter.
- Moss Man is a plant man who can revive dead plants and manipulate plant matter, mostly moss. In the 2002 series he is a quiet pastoral type and a sort of urban legend, who resides in the Eternian forests.
[edit] 1986
- Snout Spout is an elephant-headed Eternian who can squirt water out of his trunk. He appears in the She-Ra cartoon and in some of the He-Man comic books, here as an Eternian warrior.
- Extendar is a mechanized being and Master of Extension.
- Rio Blast is an Eternian gunslinger with weapons hidden in his body.
- Rokkon is a rock being who can turn into a rock for defense. He appears in multiple MOTU comic books and in the She-Ra cartoon.
- Stonedar is a rock being who can also turn into a rock for defense. He appears in multiple MOTU comic books and in the She-Ra cartoon.
[edit] 1987
- Clamp Champ is a royal guardsman with a gigantic clamp as his primary weapon.
- Rotar is the Master of Hyper-Spin. He was a guard at the Royal Palace of Eternia until one of Skeletor's attacks left him injured. Man-At-Arms saved him with one of his latest inventions.
- Gwildor is a dwarf-like Thenurian and inventor of the Cosmic Key. He debuted in the Masters of the Universe movie.
- The Sorceress is the mystic guardian of Castle Grayskull who granted Prince Adam the power to become He-Man. In the original animated series, the Sorceress cannot leave the castle for very long, or she will revert to her falcon form, Zoar. In the 2002 series, the Sorceress is not powerless outside the castle in her human form, as she demonstrates when she magically defends a village against an evil warlord. She is also the mother of Teela, who is destined to inherit her place, although Teela does not know this initially.
- King Randor is the ruler of Eternia and father of Prince Adam.
- He-Ro was the most powerful wizard in the universe, who existed in Pre-Eternia. Only prototype pictures exist.

- Granamyr is the oldest and wisest of the dragons of Darksmoke, an ancient dragon kingdom on Eternia. Granamyr greatly distrusts humans after a great war between the dragons and humans centuries ago, but he strongly respects He-Man, who convinces him there is still some hope for humankind. Granamyr is one of the most powerful magic users on Eternia and apparently possesses such extraordinary power that even Skeletor dares not challenge him.
- The Starchild appears to be a six- to seven-year-old girl. She has blond hair and blue eyes, and wears clothing resembling a red, one-piece bathing suit with a yellow star. She has incredible magical powers, which she describes as feelings. The powers cause a glow to appear around those she loves, and she can use them to defend herself from those who try to use her powers for themselves, as in the Filmation episode 'The Starchild'. She also appears in the Larry DiTillio episode 'Bargain with Evil', in which she combines her power with that of another sorceress to open a magical interdimensional gateway.
- Melaktha is the royal archaeologist, a muscular, bearded, dark-skinned intellectual who was created by writer Larry DiTillio to add more racial diversity to the original cartoon. He first appears in 'House of Shokoti' parts 1 and 2.
- The heroic Meteorbs are members of the Rock People who can transform from meteors into animal forms. They appear among Stonedar and Rokkon in the Star Comics.
- Queen Marlena is Queen of Eternia and mother of Prince Adam. The original cartoon series indicates she suspects her son is He-Man. In that series, she is originally from Earth, one of the first female astronauts.

The Mike Young Productions series confirms that Skeletor was once a man named Keldor, though no familial connection to Randor is ever established.
- Beast Man makes his debut in Mattel's very first illustrated books as Skeletor's closest and most loyal follower in the then quite small band of Evil Warriors. As the toyline expanded, he stayed at Skeletor's side as a ferocious man-beast who can summon most of the wild creatures of Eternia to aid Skeletor's schemes.

He is defeated by tricking him into eating a special alloy that weakens him.
- Faker, a duplicate of He-Man. The toy version is done in blue with orange hair and outfit, with the backstory that he is a robot duplicate that did not work out. - Screeech is a barbaric bird that works for Skeletor.
[edit] 1985
