List of Maria-sama ga Miteru episodes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of episodes of animation produced for the Japanese series Maria-sama ga Miteru. Note that none of the English translations are official titles.

In 2004, the first season, entitled Maria-sama ga Miteru (マリア様がみてる?), was produced by the Japanese animation studio Studio Deen and directed by Yukihiro Matsushita. The series contained thirteen episodes which aired between January 7 and March 31 on the TV Tokyo Japanese television network. The story follows the lives of a group of teenage girls attending Lillian Catholic school for girls in Tokyo, Japan. A common theme throughout the series revolves around the lives and close relationships of the school's student council known as the Yamayuri Council. These relationships give off a subtle yuri feel which is revealed through the series' character-driven plotline. The first season covered the story from the original light novels up to the sixth volume. Also in 2004, the second season, entitled Maria-sama ga Miteru: Haru (マリア様がみてる~春~?), was produced by the same team as with the first season. The series contained thirteen episodes which aired between July 4 and September 26, also on TV Tokyo. The story is similar to the first season, and covered the story from the original light novels up to the eleventh volume. Between late 2006 and mid 2007, the third season, also under the title of Maria-sama ga Miteru, was again produced by the same team as the previous two seasons. The series contained five fifty-minute episodes released in Original Video Animation format between November 29, 2006, and July 25, 2007. The story is similar to the first two seasons, and covered the story from the original light novels up to the seventeenth volume. A fourth televised season is expected.[1]

A set of omake episodes, entitled Maria-sama ni wa Naisho (マリア様にはないしょ?), were released with the DVDs for each of the three seasons. These one to two minute long sequences are parodies, featuring super deformed characters performing fake 'outtakes' from the 'filming' of Maria-sama ga Miteru, including the special participation of Yukihiro Matsushita as the voice of the director.[2] There are seven episodes for the first two seasons, and five for the third season.
