List of Manhattan neighborhoods

This is a list of neighborhoods in the borough of Manhattan arranged geographically from the north of the island to the south.
Please note the following definitions:
- Uptown Manhattan means above 59th Street; Upper Manhattan means above 96th Street.
- Downtown Manhattan means below 14th Street; Lower Manhattan means below Chambers Street.
- Midtown Manhattan means between 34th Street and 59th Street.
- West Side means west of Fifth Avenue; East Side means east of Fifth Avenue.
Neighborhood names and boundaries are not officially fixed, and may overlap and vary from time to time due to demographic and economic changes.
