Liquefied natural gas is used to transport natural gas over long distances, often by sea. In most cases, LNG terminals are purpose built ports used exclusively to export or import LNG.

- Crown Landing LNG Terminal, Gloucester County, New Jersey - A proposed LNG terminal to be located along the Delaware River. BP is working for regulatory approval and the LNG terminal is expected to be online by the end of 2008.[14]
