List of Hunter × Hunter characters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hunter × Hunter (ハンター×ハンター Hantā Hantā?) is a manga by Yoshihiro Togashi about a 12-year-old boy named Gon Freecss, and his quest to find his father, Ging Freecss. Ging is a Hunter, which in the setting of Hunter × Hunter means that he is a member of society's elite, with a license to go anywhere or do anything.

Age | 32[1] |

Occupation | Archaeological Hunter |
The father of Gon Freecss, whose absence is Gon's motivation to become a Hunter. Nearly nothing is known about Ging Freecss except that he is a "Double Hunter" (has two stars, see above). According to Kaito, Ging already has the qualifications and can easily be a Triple Hunter. He's also very rich and as powerful as a president of a country. All other information about him is classified even in the official Hunters database. President Netero said to Bisuke that Ging is one of the five best Nen users in the world (it should be noted that one of the Greed Island spells he and his friends made easily dispatched the Genei Ryodan). He is also the main creator of the Greed Island game. His current appearance is shown in the manga in Vol.8 between page 48 and 49 (Chapter 66).
Ging is (perhaps not much) older than 32, because he became a Hunter at the age of 12 and then married Gon's mother at age 20. When Gon was a 2 year old kid, Ging gave him to Mito Freecss and asked her to take care of him.

Nen ability: | Crazy Slot - "Mad Pierrot" (クレイジースロット - "気狂いピエロ") |
Kaito, known as Kite in the Viz Media translation, is the very first Hunter introduced in the story. He is a disciple of Ging Freecss, Gon's father. After saving Gon from a foxbear on Whale Island, Kaito revealed to him the truth about his father. Before he took his leave, Kaito left Ging's Hunter License in Gon's hands.
After leaving Greed Island, Gon runs into Kaito again, while he is in the middle of a zoological survey, searching for new species, in the country of Kakin. At the time, he was leading a team of young would-be Hunters, seven children named Banana Kavao, Lin Koushi, Monta Ulias, Podongi Rapoi, Spinner Crowe, and Stick Dinner.
- Nen Ability: Crazy Slot (クレイジースロット)[2]
A random roulette with numbers listed from one to nine appears rolling in the form of a pierrot; once the number is chosen the corresponding weapon appears.
- Number 2: A roulette scythe. The special attack is named "Silent Waltz (A Death God's Waltz「死神の円舞曲」)."[3]
- Number 3: Four roulette staves[4]
- Number 4: A roulette rifle[5]
Only a few weapons have been currently shown, and it seems as long as Kaito has not used the materialized weapon in a particular way, it will not disappear. The clown on the Crazy Slot can also talk and comment on Kaito's actions and mood.
Kaito is killed by Nefelpitou is rebuilt into a manipulated puppet to train the ants. He is later captured by Knuckle and Shoot.

Profile | |
Age | 25 |
Gender | Female |
Date of birth | September 7th |
Mito Freecs is Gon's adopted mother, and cousin to Ging Freecss. In the manga Mito did not want Gon to become a Hunter because Ging only came back home once after he took the Hunter's exam. She did not want Gon to leave his family like Ging did. In the manga, Ging is Mito's cousin. However in the HxH novel and anime, Gon's mother was Mito's sister and Ging was her brother in law. Mito was angry with Ging because he left her sister all alone at home and she had to watch her sister look sadly out of the window in hope of her husband returning. Her sister gave birth to Gon and died soon afterwards without seeing her husband ever again. Mito did not want Gon to become a Hunter who did not care about his family like his father. As such, she fights and wins for custody over Gon. However, now that Gon has left, she tries he best to support him in his journey.
Mito is a kind woman that accepts Killua as one of Gon's friends despite learning that he is an assassin, and she feels that people must do everything they can to save another's life. When Gon and Killua found a wounded animal in the forest, Mito slapped Killua for suggesting to kill it and put it out of its misery, and because of this, they came up with the alternate solution of healing it with their nen.

Zushi is a young boy who studies fighting and Nen under the tutelage of Wing, whom Gon and Killua meet in the Celestial Tower. He is a formidable fighter and a prodigy in his own right, said to have skills only 1 out of 100,000 people have. However, he is quickly surpassed by Gon and Killua, who are said to have skills only 1 out of 10,000,000 people have.
[edit] Hisoka
Upon reaching the 200th floor of the Celestial Tower, Hisoka reveals that he has followed them to the Celestial Tower. Hisoka is actually a crowd favorite fighter there, with a perfect record of victories (when he doesn't miss his matches). He prevents Gon and Killua from entering the floor until they have learned Nen, so that his playthings are not damaged by other floor fighters performing a "baptizing."

Nen Information | |
Nen type: | Reinforcement |
Nen ability: | Doppelganger |
Kastro is a prominent fighter in the Celestial Tower and apparently a celebrity, as he is constantly giving out autographs. He hangs out on the 200th floor of the Celestial Tower with the intent on building enough wins to become a Floor Master. His only loss was to Hisoka, so he trained rigorously to improve his nen. After accumulating nine wins (ten wins are needed to be a Floor Master), he challenges Hisoka to a rematch.
While he is quick out of the gate, delivering Hisoka a few brutal punches without Hisoka knowing what's going on, Hisoka realizes that Kastro used his nen to create a double of himself and that Kastro has been working in tandem with his clone to execute ambushes. Hisoka then performs a magic trick (using his nen, of course) to confuse Kastro, which makes Kastro just unstable enough to give Hisoka a win. It is likely that Kastro died after the fight, though this is not certain.
Later, Hisoka contemplates about his strategies: It seems that Hisoka used a complex illusion to throw off Kastro's balance. Kastro gets dirtied from the blows to him, and Hisoka realizes that Kastro's double was merely a reflection of what Kastro saw of himself. While the real Kastro was getting dirtier, his clone remained spotless and was thus easy to distinguish.
Kastro's undoing was in the type of nen that he had chosen. Although he was born to the reinforcement nen type, Kastro's ability completely ignored his strengths and used materialization and manipulation. A reinforcement type's maximum ability in these fields is 60% at best, so Kastro would never be able to use his full potential.
