The following is an episode list for the Disney Channel Original Series series, Hannah Montana. The series originally premièred on March 26, 2006. All of the episode titles are references, take-offs, lyrics, or puns on a popular song titles (example "Miley Get Your Gum", is a parody of Annie Get Your Gun). A movie, The Hannah Montana Movie, is currently in production. An asterisk at the end of an episode's summary (*) indicates that the episode was released on DVD. Miley Cyrus said in an interview with Amazon.com that the crew of the show will keep making episodes as long as the fans keep asking for it.[citation needed]
The first season premiered on March 24, 2006. "New Kid in School" was the first to be featured on the DVD Hannah Montana: Pop Star Profile, which chronicles the start of the relationship between Hannah and Jake.[1] The second, "More than a Zombie to Me", parodies Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with Zombie Slayer Jake and the Zombie Queen (Hannah) in roles similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire.[1] The third, "Good Golly, Miss Dolly", had Miley's godmother, "Aunt Dolly", accidentally giving a video revealing Miley's crush for Jake (Dolly Parton, who guest appeared, is Miley Cyrus's real godmother[2]).[1] The fourth and last was "People Who Use People".[1] The episode "My Boyfriend's Jackson and There's Gonna Be Trouble" won Disney Channel's Viewer's Choice Contest for "Pick the First New Hannah Montana Episode of 2007!".
The second season began April 23, 2007. Mitchell Musso is absent in 5 episodes, and Moises Arias becomes a regular cast member. In "My Best-Friend's Boyfriend", Larry David was approached by the producers about being on the show when he attended a Hannah Montana taping with his two daughters, who were fans of the show. He agreed, and appeared in the episode with his daughters,[3] playing himself as a "frustrated restaurant patron".[4] David's daughters are "huge fans" of Hannah Montana.[5][6] Heather Locklear was also convinced to guest star after attending with her kids.[7] Camryn Manheim and Brooke Shields also have made guest appearances because their kids enjoy the show.[8] John D'Aquino and Madison Pettis from Cory in the House make guest appearances as their characters in a special crossover episode. "I Want You to Want Me...To Go to Florida" features the ballad “Ready, Set, Don’t Go”, by Billy Ray Cyrus. It details his feelings, concerning his daughter Miley's move to Los Angeles to star in Hannah Montana, he stayed behind in Nashville.[9] The episode also features the song "If Cupid Had a Heart", sung by Julie Griffin, and written by Gordon Pogoda.[10]
Disney Channel announced in the upfront presentation to advertisers April 9, 2008 that Hannah Montana has been formally renewed for a third season.[11] The episode "Joannie B. Goode" is directed by Rondell Sheridan, of That's So Raven and Cory in the House.[12]
