[edit] Artie Antlers

Artie Antlers was a tall, brown, moose who played piano. He was in many Pizza Time Theatre cabaret show during the 1980's, and was removed by the 1990's. He would sometimes sing along with Dolli Dimples. There was also one problem with Artie: he had wooden antlers in the beginning, but they began to break, so in the end, he was given styrofoam antlers. He was originally going to be a guest star called "Elkton John".

[edit] B.B. Bubbles

B.B. Bubbles was a bubbly, kid friendly pink elephant who performed in some cabaret showrooms from the 80's. B.B. performed circus type songs that kids would enjoy, and she also had a bubble machine in a few locations. She held a microphone in her trunk and had Slinkys for hair.

[edit] The Beach Bowzers

The Beach Bowzers was a quartet of singing dogs playing instruments. The animatronic cabaret show band was actually a take off of The Beach Boys, and they performed many of their songs (examples were "In My Room", "Help Me Rhonda", "I Get Around", etc.). Their announcer sounded just like Ed Sullivan.

[edit] The Beagles

The Beagles were another band of dogs that played in many cabaret shows. They sang Beatles songs, and used the band's actual recordings. The dogs' names were John, Ringo, George, and Paul. Before a show, one of The Beagles would tell a short story about another one of the Beagles. At some locations where they had a Beagles show, a section of the salad bar was called "The Beagles Ballroom."

[edit] Charlie Rockitt

Charlie Rockitt is a classic intermission character. He appeared in the early 1990's as a young boy puppet with red hair and a monkey-like appearance. He was the surfer and played guitar. In 1994, he retired, but re-appeared in 1999 in Chuck E. Cheese in the Galaxy 5000 as a human-boy.

[edit] Chuck E. Cheese

Chuck E. Cheese
Chuck E. Cheese

Charles Entertainment Cheese, best known by Chuck E. Cheese or The Big C, is the mascot for Chuck E. Cheese's. He is a fun-loving, friendly mouse that enjoys skateboarding, playing video games, and entertaining children. Chuck E. Cheese originally started out as a cocky rat who wore a red derby hat, diamond vest, bow tie, had a cane, and smoked a cigar. He also had small eyes, a long pointy nose, and dozens of whiskers. He performed a medley of songs with his friends in the first restaurants. By the early 1980's, his nose was softer, he lost some whiskers, and had a plain red vest. His vest was changed to blue when Showbiz had bought CEC. During the porch stage era, Chuck E. had gotten a softer voice. When Showbiz Pizza Place bought CEC's in the 80s, both companies operated their stores. While CEC and Showbiz grew together, Creative Engineering Inc. (the company who half-owned their characters) grew apart. When they separated they were in need of a new show. So, with the popularity with Chuck E. and the gang a process called concept unification took place and all Showbiz restaurants were soon transformed into Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants. At that point, Chuck E. was given a tuxedo outfit to suit up for the changes. In 1993, his image had a big change: He gave up his tux and got a "cool" outfit with sunglasses and a yellow t-shirt. He was then changed into a mouse along with a sports outfit in 1995. In 1998, he was given a blue skater outfit he can still be seen wearing today. Today, Chuck E. is more kid friendly and the sole-robotic. Chuck E. was also born in the state of New Jersey. He can still be seen in Munch's Make Believe Band as the star of the show.

[edit] Crusty the Cat

Crusty the Cat is one of the first Pizza Time Players. He was Chuck's straight man who told jokes and was nicknamed "The Cat's Meow" during joke telling. In 1978, he was replaced by Mr. Munch, possibly because of the "rat-cat" situation between him and Chuck E.

[edit] Dolli Dimples

Dolli Dimples was the first cabaret show character in CEC history. She was a blue blues singing hippo that had orange hair and played the piano. In some shows, she would play the piano along with Artie Antlers, or flirt with Chuck E. in between songs. As with The King (see below), in some locations Dolli was positioned by herself in a smaller dining area away from the main stage; in these stores, Dolli was a coin-operated character who could be activated on demand with tokens.

[edit] Foxy Collen

Foxy Collen was one of the first female guest stars used at PTT. She was a brown fox who sang a variety of Irish songs and spoke with an Irish accent. Each 12 months, Pizza Time Theatre would bring in new female guest stars since the rest of the characters (excluding The Warblettes) were male. They would simply theme the backdrop for the Balcony stage and use the same robot with different cosmetics (meaning that Harmony, Helen, Sally, and Oink were all the same robot).

[edit] Harmony Howlette

Harmony Howlette was a guest star for only the Balcony stages. She was a coyote cowgirl who was said to have gather more possee then Jesse James (quoted by Munch). Harmony sang country and western themed songs with a backdrop of a desert completed with cactus props. She held a lasso, wore a cowboy hat, and was Jasper's sweetheart. Harmony disappeared in the 1990's, but she can still be seen on some Phase 3 parody posters.

[edit] Helen Henny

Helen Henny
Helen Henny

Helen Henny is another old Pizza Time Player. She first appeared in 1978 as a guest star for Wall Portraits. She was a folk singer hippie goose who played guitar, had long hair, and thin body[1]. She was based on the Australian singer Helen Reddy[2]. In 1979, she retired to make and prepare room for fresh new guest stars. In 1983, she re-appeared as a chuckling chicken who sang Broadway songs, wore a red dress for Balcony stages, and had cockscomb and wattles. She was also the last guest star. When Showbiz bought Pizza Time, she stayed with the group, and appeared in Porch and Rocker stages, where once again, she was re-designed. She also sat down on a porch swing in Rocker stages. When Concept Unification took place, the company wanted Helen to look more like Mitzi, since she would be re-outfitted into Helen, so they made her a young cheerleader with gray hair, a black dress, and a maroon dress. When Studio C was created, she was given blond hair, a green cheerleader outfit, and a different voice (her current voice). In Studio C, she sings many solos behind a green background, and has a friendly, loving appearance. Helen is also a vegetarian, and hates the fact humans eat animals (according to Chuck E. Cheese in the Galaxy 5000).

[edit] Jasper T. Jowls

Jasper
Jasper

Jasper T. Jowls is one of the first Pizza Time Players. He is a quiet, friendly, hillbilly hound dog who was born in Tennessee and loves pepperoni pizza. He first appeared in the first San Jose location, where he was rather wild and played banjo in the wall portrait. He was also rather thinner than he is today. The original animatronics played real banjos, but due to the heavy weight of the the banjo and the figure, they were replaced by light fake banjos. When Balcony Stage was introduced, he still played banjo but was more chubby. He frequently laughed continuously, and Chuck E. would call him the "Fruitcake Dog". Around the porch stage era, his voice was softer, and more kid friendly. In MMBB, he plays a guitar shaped like cheese and wears a cowboy hat, cowhide shirt, overalls (sometimes jeans), and sneakers, and sits on a barrel or speaker. In Studio C, he sits behind a blue background, and dances and sings.

[edit] The King

The King was another Cabaret show from the 1980's. He was a 9 foot tall singing lion that performed when Balcony, Porch, or Rocker stages were not. The King was based upon the famous singer Elvis Presley (who was also called The King), and he also wore his clothing (black Afro, golden outfit, etc). He would sing actual recordings that Elvis performed, and played electric guitar. He also had the ability to lean his body back and tap his right foot. In most stores, he was located in the right corner of the main showroom, behind a little fence with a blue backdrop; however, some locations positioned The King in a separate, smaller dining area away from the main stage room. In these locations, The King could be activated on demand by inserting a token into a coin box next to his stage.

[edit] Michael Katson

Michael Katson is one of the last Pizza Time Players. He wore a red Thriller suit and sang Michael Jackson tunes. He is actually a re-outfitted The King.

[edit] Larry the Technician

Larry the Technician is a character that has been around since the PTT days. He was the fictional head-technician who was never seen on showtapes, and Chuck E. and the gang would talk to him, as if he were back stage. Today, Larry still exists on some intermissions, or on occasion, showtapes.

[edit] The Little Shavers

The Little Shavers was a cabaret show for the Ice Cream Emporium stores. The Little Shavers were a typical Barbershop quartet that sang a variery of songs. They were also actually re-outfitted Beagles shows. Here is a picture of The Little Shavers.

[edit] The Mopsy Sisters

The Mopsy Sisters were a trio of singing mops that appeared in 1978. They replaced The Warblettes for a short while. The Mopsy Sisters had sticks for body, and mops for hair.

[edit] Madame Oink

Madame Oink is another guest star for PTT. She is a French pig who sang French songs with a Tunnel of Love backdrop on Balcony stages. She actually first appeared in Wall Portraits. It is believed she is a knock-off of the Muppets character, Miss Piggy. Madame Oink appeared in about four showtapes in the 80's, and would oink during songs. During the Sally Sashay Xmas 79 showtape, she is mentioned by Chuck E., and Pasqually says that she was too fat for him. Madame Oink also appears to be the love interest of Pasqually.

[edit] Pasqually

Pasqually
Pasqually

Pasqually P. Pieplate, simply known as Pasqually, is one of the first PTT characters ever. He is an Italian pizza chef that makes the pizzas for everyone (the pizzas were originally known as "Pasqually's Pizzas") and sings vocals. He wears a chef's hat, checker board outfit, apron, oven mitts (in walkarounds), and black shoes and pants. It is also noted he is the only human animatronic. During the Wall portrait setup, he had a mean looking face and called out the pizza orders (such as "Number 5!") so guests could go to the counter and get their pizza. When the Balcony Stage was created, he looked more cheerful and played a squeezebox. He was off on the side in his own cubby while he sang along with the Pizza Time Players. He continued to play it until Concept Unification. After the RAE became MMBB, Dook was re-outfitted to become Pasqually. In MMBB, he plays a 4-piece drumset, shares stage with Pizzacam, and hosts "Pasqually's Amateur Hour" where he tells jokes, but nobody got them (only munch got them) His appearance has not really changed over the years, in appearance or personality. In Studio C, he sits behind a red background and sings. Pasqually is also famous for his signature mustache twitch (except in 3-stage) ever since the Wall Portrait Days. Also, it is noted that the Balcony Stage version did not any eyebrows. Pasqually is currently voiced by Earl Fisher.

[edit] Sally Sashay

Sally Sashay is another early guest star for PTT. Sally was a black and white skunk who sang disco themed music in both Wall Portrait and Balcony stages, while the others sang along with her. Sally first appeared in 1979, and later that year, appeared in a Christmas showtape.

[edit] Stage characters

  • The singing flowers were 6 female flowers beneath Munch and Pasqually in the house facade. They replaced the Warblettes as background vocalists
  • Munch Jr. is the son of Mr. Munch who replaced Choo Choo during CU. He would bop up and down during songs out of a little barrel on center stage. Apparently, this means Mr. Munch has a wife.
  • Pizzacam is the blue video camera on stage left. He would sing along with the band, and other times would hide behind a speaker. He was originally Looney Bird from the Rock-afire Explosion.
  • The Building is the mech who shared center stage with the rest. He replaced the RAE sun, and would pop up behind Helen Henny.
  • The Moon is the other mech on center stage. He was originally the RAE moon, but still lasted during CU. He sometimes would announce shows. Both mechs can often break or stay up instead of going down, and most restaurants don't use them anymore.

[edit] The Warblettes

The Warblettes were a trio of singing magpies. They appeared at the very first restaurant as background vocalists for the band. The Warblettes were a dark brown color, and had only two movements: they would open and close their beaks, and rock back and forth. The Warblettes received their very own little cubby for the Balcony stages. At some locations, they received colorful dresses and white feathers. When the Porch stage was introduced, the company decided not to use The Warblettes for the stage. If they had been used, they would have likely been somewhere on the roof of the house facade. Instead of actually taking them down, workers stapled a curtain over their cubby, figuring they would have been used later on. That never happened, so it had led guests into suspension of what was behind the little curtain.

[edit] Wolfman Zapp

Wolfman Zapp was a rare cabaret character for PTT. He was a wolf who was based on Wolfman Jack, and looked more like a male version on Foxy Collen.
