1931-present Six votes per game: 3,2,1 (except 1976-77 when 12 votes were awarded per game: 3,2,1 from each of the two field umpires)

1946-1949 each team played 19 rounds in the home and away season
1968-1969 each team played 20 rounds in the home and away season
