This is a list of the semi finalists who competed on the reality television series Australian Idol since the show's debut in July 2003. The contestants who advanced to the finals are in bold.

The following night in the Results Show it was announced that Daniel Wakefield and Peter Ryan gained the highest amount of votes from the viewing public and they would progress to the Final 12.

The following night on the Results Show it was announced that Matthew Chadwick and Kelly Cavauto received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Results Show it was announced that Shannon Noll and Guy Sebastian received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

[edit] Group 4 (31 August 2003)

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Lauren Buckley and Cle Wootton received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Results Show it was announced that Rob Mills and Paulini Curuenavuli received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

[edit] Wildcards (14 September 2003)

The following night on the Results Show it was announced that Daniel Wakefield who had joined the Final 12 in the first group had withdrawn from the competition due to prior recording contracts. This meant that three contestants would progress through to the Final 12. The judges choice was Cosima De Vito and the public votes went to Rebekah La Vauney and Levi Kereama. These last three contestants made up the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Chanel Cole, Courtney Murphy and Hayley Jensen received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Amali Ward, Angeline Narayan and Daniel Belle received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Casey Donovan, Daniel O'Connor and Ricki-Lee Coulter received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Results Show the Judges Choice was Emelia Rusciano and the public votes went to Anthony Callea and Marty Worrall. These last three contestants made up the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Anne Robertson, Chris Luder and Tarni Stephens received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Kate DeAraugo, Laura Gissara and Milly Edwards received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Dan England, Lee Harding and Natalie Zahra received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Results Show the Judges Choices were Emily Williams and James Kannis and the public vote went to Daniel Spillane. However, the judges felt Roxanne Lebrasse was too good to be left out of the top 12 and made it a top 13.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Dean Geyer and Damien Leith received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Reigan Derry and Jessica Mauboy received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Bobby Flynn and Joseph Gatehau received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Lisa Mitchell and Lavina Williams received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.

The following night on the Results Show the Judges Choices were Klancie Keough, Ricky Muscat and Guy Mutton and the public vote went to Chris Murphy.

The following night on the Verdict Show it was announced that Matt Corby and Jacob Butler received the highest amount of votes and they would progress through to the Final 12.
