The following is a list of episodes of the anime Aria, adapted from the manga series Aria and Aqua by Kozue Amano.

The anime was produced by Hal Film Maker as a 53-episode television series comprising two seasons, an OVA, and a third season. The premise, characters, and setting of the anime are the same as the manga, but episodes are adapted from chapters out of their original order, and some episodes are original.

The first season of Aria consisted of 13 episodes broadcast on TXN stations from 2005-10-06 to 2005-12-29.

A young girl, Ai, shows up at Aria Company and demands that Akari take her on a gondola tour of the city. During the annual flooding of Neo-Venezia, Akari is caught in a rainshower away from home and spends the night at Himeya Company in Aika's room. In the morning, after getting into a fight with her mentor, Akira, Aika follows Akari home to Aria Company. Aika tells her new friend how she met Alicia and why she admires her. While training in strait with difficult currents, Akari and Aika witness the great sculling skills of a little, green haired girl, named Alice Carrol. She bluntly refuses their attempts at friendship, but remains troubled by Akari's sincere smile, which is unlike most undines'. Next day Alice encounters Akari and Akatsuki and joins them on a gondola tour of Neo-Venezia and up the floating weather station, becoming friends with Akari in the process.

Akari finds an old letter and decides to deliver it, but discovers that its destination is now under water. The letter turns out to be from a woman writing to her husband who was away working on the terraforming of Mars (before the oceans rose and it was renamed Aqua).

Akari spends the night with Alice. While there, she is introduces her to Athena, her mentor and the third Water Fairy, and her kitten, Maa-kun, who is kept hidden because Alice believes pets are forbidden in the company dorms. During the night, Maa-kun runs away but is found in the morning by Akari and Athena, who knew about it all along. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 22.)

Akira takes the three girls for live training and picks up a honeymoon couple for the morning gondola tour, which turns out to be a full-day chore. She purposely entraps the three young undines in a maze formed by the rising tide and several low-lying bridges. Akari and co. eventually find the hidden way out, while the husband learns a valuable lesson about bridle and pride. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 24.)

Akari, Aika, and Alice visit Akino, the legendary founder of Aira company, in retirement in the countryside. Akino asks for the girls' help with domestic chores, and Aika decides they are tests that will make them great undines. That night, Akino reveals that the secret to becoming a good undine is to enjoy every moment. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 19.)

Akari, Aika and Alice shortcut training due to freezing weather and find the three water fairies chatting at Aqua HQ. Alicia explains they, seniors used to do similar combined training in the past, but have seldom met since. Cutbacks show Alicia and Akira as singles, befriending the extremely clumsy Athena and discovering her amazing singing talent. While escorting Aika and Alice home, Akari suffers a short emotional breakdown, realizing they three will also have to part ways one day.

Ai-chan arrives for a suprise visit during the new year school-break and meets various characters from the series, causing a lot of embarrassment for Akari, who disclosed a little too much personal secrets and gossip in her many e-mails to Ai-chan.

The second season of Aria of 26 episodes was broadcast on TXN stations and AT-X from 2006-04-02 to 2006-09-24.

Aria Pokoteng leaves Aqua HQ on carnival morning. Later on, Akari and Ai-chan become separated from the crowd while chasing after "Casanova", the legendary giant, masked MC of carnivals. Eventually they confront Casanova, who invites them to a cheering march and finally gives them a glimpse of his true identity as Caith Sith, the 100 year old cat king of Neo-Venezia. President Aria turns out to be one of his attendants.

Akari, Aika, and Alice find a note that leads them on a treasure hunt through the city, which ends up on a hill looking over a beautiful view of Neo-Venezia. They decide to replace the clues, so that others can find this treasure for themselves. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 13.)

Mr. Postman borrows Akari and her gondola for the day while his is being repaired, and she helps him deliver the mail. During the day, they help a boy deliver in person a letter to his former teacher on her wedding day. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 21.)

Alicia and Akari visit an island that recreates a Manhome Japanese temple. Akari meets a procession of kitsune and, frightened, offers them her sushi. Alice invites Akari and Aika to spend the night. While there, they realize she did this to have an excuse to not attending a company party, because she feels out of place among so many older people. After talking with Athena and watching Maa-kun go to great effort to climb onto a bed to bite President Aria, she decides to put more effort into "joining the party."

While practicing their rowing, Akari and Aika watch President Aria take his own boat down a chanel they had never noticed before. The next day, they see him again and this time follow him. They end up in labrynthine warehouse that has them traveling in circles, until Aria shows them the way out. As they leave, Akari sees behind them dozens of cats, including one as large as an ox, who bows to her. (Adapted from Aqua Navigation 4.)

During the annual flooding of Neo-Venezia, Akari meets Akatsuki. He wishes to give several roses to Alicia for the Feste de Boccolo—a day when men give a single red rose to the women he loves. Akatsuki is nervous of approaching Alicia, however, and practices presenting them to Akari. Alicia sees this, and wishes the two well in their relationship. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 15.)

Akari, supervised by Alicia, gives a tour as an undine, only to have her clients discover a secret garden she did not know about. Later she searches Neo-Venezia for unique places to show others, but cannot find any place that Aika and Alice do not already know about. When she despairs of ever reaching Alicia's level as an undine, Alicia says she has a lot to learn herself, and is glad of this as it means she will always have new things to discover.

Puzzled as to why Akari gets special treatment from locals, even though she is an immigrant, Aika and Alice follow her for a day. After watching her run errands and take a ferry, they conclude that it is because she is naturally nice to everyone and takes joy in nearly everything.

Akatsuki's brother asks for Akari's help transporting some glassware by gondola. While picking up the cargo at the workshop, she overhears a tourist disparaging Neo-Venezian glassware as an inferior copy of Venetian ware—like the rest of Neo-Venezia. This depresses an apprentice glassmaker riding with them, until Akari points out that Neo-Venezia may look like Venice, but the process of building it was different—that this is its own place, with its own memories to cherish. Akatsuki's brother tells her she will be a good undine.

On a summer day hot enough to see mirages on the ocean, Akari takes refuge in a cool cafe. When she tries to buy iced coffee, she learns it serves only iced milk, beause it is a refuge for the city's cats. Later, Akari buys a windchime with a noctilucent clapper, a summer specialty of Aqua, and hangs it outside her window. The glow lasts for a month, and when it dies, the clapper drops off into the sea. (Adapted from Aria Navigation 17 and Aqua Navigation 7.)

Disturbed that Aria Company does not have its own "parina," or distinctive pole for hitching boats, Akari decides to design one herself. Looking for ideas in the company archives, she finds an old photograph of Akino that shows one, and she creates a new one based on it.

Aika-chan arrives at the barbecue party with a new, ultra-cute hairstyle and goes over the top after being praised by Alicia for her goddess-like looks. Minutes later she accidentally burns her hair and runs away. Akira confronts Aika at Himeya HQ and teases her baseless desire to become a copycat of Alicia. Aika tries to run away, but Akira stops her to explain it is impossible to impersonate someone else and she should simply aim to become the best ever undine in Neo-Venezia. Aika then cuts her hair very short to express her new, dynamic "me".

Adapted from Aria Navigation 38, this is a controversial episode open for conflicting interpretations. In the midst of the summer heatwave Akari observes a ghostly lady in black at Piazza San Marco. Next evening the lady asks Akari for a ride in her gondola to Isola San Michele, where she drags Akari into the cemetery, then disappears. Akari meets Caith Sith and regains consciousness later on the balcony of Aria HQ. (She was possibly victimized). Akari insists Caith Sith saved her life, but Alice-chan explains the black lady's "medival" execution related ghost story had no trace back on Man-Home, its a recent myth made up on Aqua (potentially a dark magic concotion of Caith Sith to lure girls to his liking).
21	"That Night of the Milky Way Railroad... or The Night of the Galaxy Express..." "Sono Ginga Tetsudō no Yoru ni..." (その銀河鉄道の夜に・・・)	2006-08-20
Adapted from Aria Navigation 30, this is a higly controversial episode open for conflicting interpretations. Akari wakes up 02:00 AM to the sound of a train's whistle, even though the Neo-Venezia railway is down for night time. Caith Sith tries to kill Akari by sending her a ticket for the Milky Way Night Express, that magic train which takes the departing souls to the afterlife. Akari confides in Alicia, Aika and Alice-chan her growing affection for Caith Sith and her disambiguity about taking the ride. Alicia-san encourages her to go and Akari turns up at the platform. She escapes by chance, giving up her ticket for a crying kitten who lost its boarding pass. Eventually Akari hugs Caith Sith and the cat king takes conducting the train.

A single-episode OVA titled Aria the OVA ~Arietta~ was released 21 September 2007 and broadcast on AT-X on 2007-09-02.^[3] It is 30 minutes in length.

The script was written by director Junichi Sato, not adapting a story from the manga. It tells how, after Akari has an anxious dream of her future as a Prima, Alicia describes her experiences as a new Prima herself.

The third season of Aria of 13 episodes was broadcast on TXN stations and AT-X from 2008-01-07 to 2008-03-31. The production staff remained largely unchanged from previous seasons.

Akari, Aika, and Alice talk about their experiences during the Carnival and some difficult situations as undines they saw Alicia, Akira, and Athena carry off. As the younger girls discuss how much they have to learn, their watching trainers agree that they will become good undines.

An older woman, Amarantha, requests a tour from Akari, and surprises the undine by knowing more about the city than she does, but ends up approving her itinerary. Alicia tells Akari that Amarantha likes to test Singles, and did herself, Akira, and Athena when they training.

In between seeing an exhibit of Venetian art and a building being relocated from historical Venice, Akari meets a candy vendor. Through her comment, she helps him appreciate that his locally made chocolates bring as much beauty to Neo-Venezia as the historical treasures from Manhome.

To get more gondola practice and help Alicia out, Akari does duty with the Traghetto, or regular ferry service, with three other singles. Two of them, Anzu and Atora, recently took and failed the Prima undine test, and the third, Ayume, plans not to take it, in part because of the difficulty. Akari's skill convinces the others that she will soon be a Prima, and her desire to move forward to meet each new challenge both gives Anzu and Atora renewed confidence that they will pass and convinces Ayume to take the test. Aika sees that Alice and Akari is developing in their own way: Alice with her rowing skills, and Akari with her conversational, social skills. She wonders what she is good at, and soon becomes depressed at the fact that she isn't good at anything. Later on, Akira cheers her up. (Adapted from Aria chapter 51.)

Alice notices that Alicia never scolds Akari, even when she makes big mistakes. The next day, Alice meets up with Alicia and ask her why it is so. Alicia responds by saying that she prefers to encourage others rather than correcting them because pointing out their mistakes might discourage them from trying their best.

Akari and Alicia go to Neo-Burano Island to celebrate Aria Company's anniversary with one of the company's former Primas, Anna. While there, Grandma visits and tells them all the story of how she first me President Aria and formed Aria Company many years ago while she was still Himeya's top Prima.
8	"That Important Person's Memories..." "Sono Taisetsu na Hito no Kioku ni..." (その大切な人の記憶に・・・)	2008-02-25
Alice invites Athena on a picnic, but Athena is too busy to make it back in time. Disappointed, Alica accidentally rips up the invitation and, in tears, tries to leave their room but Athena trips on falls. When Athena awakens, she cannot remember the names of the people around her. In a panic, Alice calls Akari for help. Akari and Alicia visit Athena and her memories slowly begin to come back. Akari and Alice decide to take Athena to familiar places and her memory slowly returns, except her memory of Alice. Saddened by the fact that Athena cannot remember her, Athena reveals that she had been faking her amnesia because she wanted to know how Alice felt about her.
9	"Enveloped by That Orange Wind..." "Sono Orenji no Kaze ni Tsutsumarete..." (そのオレンジの風につつまれて・・・)	2008-03-03
Alice graduates from middle school and Athena decides to take her on a picnic. As they leave, Athena asks her to treat her as a customer and guide her. Secretly, Athena takes Alice on the Single promotion exam route on the overland canal towards the Hill of Hope. Upon arrival, Alice notices that Akari, Aika, executives of Orange Planet, and a representative from the Gondola Association are there. Athena promotes Alice to Prima and gives her the title Orange Princess, making her the first ever undine to ever get promoted from Pair to Prima.

Aika tells Akari that she can no longer participate in their training sessions and Akari discovers that Aika no longer is wearing her glove and was promoted to Prima. Aika received the title Rozen Queen and tells Akari that she is now going to be managing one of Himeya's branch offices. Akari tells Alicia about Aika's promotion, so Alicia decides to have her promotion exam the next day. That night, Akari cannot sleep and spends some time rowing at night, where she meets Woody and Akatsuki. After morning showers, Alicia takes Akari on her exmas and Akari guides Alicia through the city. During the exam an number of their friends see Akari taking her test and send out their encouragement. Upon completion of the exam, Alicia promotes Akari to a Prima and gives her the title of Aquamarine.
