This is a list of characters from the fictional world of Ace Lightning, an action-adventure superhero themed television show combining live action and CGI characters. The series lasted thirty nine episodes, lasting for two seasons.
[edit] Ace Lightning
The main protagonist, Ace Lightning is a superhero originating from the fictional Sixth Dimension, although he is in reality a video game hero. Considered the foremost of the Lightning Knights, Ace was on a mission to capture Lord Fear at the Carnival of Doom, and restore the shattered Amulet of Zoar. He arrives in Conestoga Hills through the Datastream while pursuing Lord Fear, enlisted Mark Hollander as his sidekick. Ace has superhuman strength and self-propeller flight. He mainly fights using controlled lightning bolts generated from his wrist cannon weapons. Voiced by Michael Riley.
[edit] Mark Hollander
Mark is a 13-15 year old from London, United Kingdom who moved to America with his parents, Simon and Fiona. Mark is a marvel at playing video games and sports such as football. He is also a skateboarder. Mark is brave, kind and a bit of a computer whizz. However, his life was turned upside-down when Ace Lightning and the other characters from his favourite video game came to life. Mark became Ace's sidekick. Mark was rather frightened of Lord Fear and his gang at first, but eventually learnt to trust in himself.
As a character, Mark acted as the narrator and moral signifier of the story, and was probably intended to connect to the audience in that way, representing how a human being is capable of acchieving incredible successes, through believing in themselves and attempting to do the right thing. Still Mark is a teenager, and often expresses annoyance at his situation with the Lightning Knights, voicing that he isn’t, actually, one of them. Phrases like “I don’t have and superpowers.” and “Ace we’ve been through this before, I’m not a Lightning Knight” are commonplace where Mark is concerned.
Mark has had three known girlfriends: Samantha Thompson, Heather Hoffs and Kat Adams. He stood Sam and Heather up a lot since Ace frequently needed his help defeating the evils, but while Sam forgave him over and over right up until their eventual break up, the more self-assured and bossy Heather did not and developed a rather large grudge against him in the second season due to his supposed treatment of her. Mark's best friends are Chuck, Pete and Ace. In the second season he possesses a wrist cannon that fires lightning bolts, allowing him to present more of a physical threat to the evils than in the original series. Fans have jokingly named this wrist cannot the "Super-Glove of Doom".
Mark was just a normal teenager until Ace Lightning came to life. After the evils arrival in his world, he became very protective of his loved ones and tried his best to keep his double life a secret, but several people still discovered the truth of Ace including his younger cousin Ashley, best friend Chuck Mugel and his third girlfriend Kat Adams. Mark briefly quit being a Lightning Knight when Sparx questioned his validity as one, stating he was too "scrawny". He rejoined when Ace became a zombie for a short while and began attacking Sparx, resulting in her going to Mark for help. Mark helped defeat Lord Fear the first time around by shattering the Amulet.
Mark matured in Season 2 (Ace called it "a power boost", Mark just called it "growing up"), and started dating Kat Adams, although he kept Samantha a secret from her for half of the series and it is unclear as to whether they were still believed to be dating during this time. Mark gained his own wrist cannon so he could now fight, and with Chuck he learnt that the Master Programmer (Rick) created Kilobyte and that Mark's copy of the game was a version created especially by Rick, activated the night when Lightning struck his satellite dish. Mark is played by the English actor, Thomas Wansey.

TOO MANY RETARDS! OH NO!
[edit] Chuck Mugel
Chuck is Mark's best friend and second sidekick to Ace. Chuck originally was a fat, unpopular kid who liked to eat junk food and read comic books. Chuck was beaten up by Wayne Fisgus a lot in middle school, Wayne calling Chuck "Upchuck" due to his suffering of motion sickness. Chuck also disliked playing sports but nonetheless somehow ended up on the Conestoga Middle School soccer team. Chuck is a whizz with computers and has also constructed his own robot with help from Mr. Cheseborough known as Leviathan X-L 1, which won him a place in computer camp. Chuck is currently dating Jessica Fisgus, Wayne's cousin, whom he met at an Ace Lightning fan meeting, having not, previously realised that "Jesse" was female.
Chuck was a major fan of the Ace Lightning video game for ages and is an expert on it, once stating that Ace Lightning was "A part of life" (clearly with no idea how significant that statement would become in later episodes). He long suspected something was up with Mark and the game, and actually guessed about Ace's real-world existence. When Ace Lightning came to life, Chuck claimed meeting him was the happiest moment of his life.
Some of Chuck's most memorable moments including vomiting horrifically in the middle of the school canteen after he found a pea in his tapioca pudding, creating a robot and getting struck by a deflected lightning bolt from Ace which temporarily gave him great strength and energy, and he gave himself the nickname of "Thunderfoot". Chuck eventually helped win the soccer match even after losing his newfound powers, but stated that he was "going out of the superhero business".
In Season 2, Chuck lost weight and wore glasses. He worked at Rick's Computer Shack, although he usually played video games instead of working. He became a second sidekick to Ace after helping Mark decode a message from Ace while he was trapped in the game, and upgraded the Lightning Knights a couple of times. Chuck took to the role of sidekick a great deal faster than Mark originally had. At one point Mark grew jealous of Chuck and accidentally allowed him to be possessed by Rotgut. Chuck once rode a scooter but now uses Rick's van to get about. Chuck is played by Marc Minardi.
[edit] Samantha Thompson
Samantha or Sam for short was the main female star of the first season, as Mark's first girlfriend and next door neighbour. Samantha originally dated Brett Ramirez and then shortly began to date Mark. She was always suspicious of him when he dashed off or become protective, and figured it had something to do with his video game and the local carnival. Samantha's best friend is Heather Hoffs, and her hobbies include rollerskating and cheerleading. Samantha broke up with Mark half way through the series and started dating Brett again. In the last episode of season one, Brett and Heather wound up together so Samantha and Mark became a couple again.
At the start of Season 2, Samantha went to a boarding school called Westleaf and started dating a boy named Jeremy. She eventually visited Mark and the others and revealed all to Mark. She also met Kat and gave her some advice to confess her crush on Mark before it is too late. Mark, she says, is remarkably easy to lose track of. Samantha is played by Shadia Simmons.
[edit] Kat Adams
Kathryn "Kat" Adams is the new lead girl in Season 2. She is a new classmate in Mark and Chuck's homeroom class and has an attitude problem early in the series. She is from an unnamed big city and wishes to return to it. She gets used to living in Conestoga Hills and soon becomes Mark's third girlfriend after having a conversation with Samantha. Kat becomes editor of the school newspaper and has a fierce rivallry with Heather Hoffs. She soon grows very suspicious of the Carnival of Doom and Mark's relationship with it, and discovers the truth of Ace Lightning. She is a skilled basketball player. She has (or possibly just walks) a dog named Julie who mysteriously is captured by a pair of dogcatchers in Episode 38, though she occasionally (oddly) shows up again in subsequent episodes, popping across the screen for no obvious reason. Kat is played by Ashley Leggat.
She has been called a Mary Sue by fans and has been criticized for being so suddenly inserted into the series.
[edit] Lord Fear
For more information, see the article on Lord Fear.
The main antagonist of the series, Lord Fear is an 352 year old undead supervillain and mastermind. Determined to conquer the universe, Lord Fear plots to use the Amulet of Zoar's power in order to achieve this goal. However, Ace Lightning and the other Lightning Knights combat his forces to prevent this. Ace and Lord Fear were once friends, but Fear walks with a limp thanks to be accidentally crippled by Ace long ago, and now they are sworn enemies. Lord Fear controls the Carnival of Doom, a bizarre place full of many evil creatures. Lord Fear can extend his limbs to trap his enemies in a boa constrictor-like grip. His primary weapons include his loyal servant, Staff Head, who can fire energy beams from the orb he carries, and the Doom Wagon, a motorcycle-like vehicle created by Kilobyte. Voiced by Juan Chioran.
[edit] Staff Head
For more information, see the article section on Staff Head. Lord Fear's loyal servant and closest friend, Staff Head is a winged frog who perches on top of his lordship's walking stick. Holding a glass orb on his head, Staff Head can use its magical powers to fire energy beams at foes. Completely loyal to Lord Fear, Staff Head often praises Lord Fear to stay on his good side. Staff Head thinks very little of the rest of the villains, particularly Dirty Rat and Rotgut. He also often annoys poor carnival owner Duff Kent with his insults. In the first season, Staff Head was completely fused to Lord Fear's walking stick and seemed to go into a statue-like state most of the time. In the second series, he was given a more realistic design and could move about freely. Voiced by Michael Lamport.
[edit] Lady Illusion
For more information, see the article on Lady Illusion.
Lady Illusion is some type of elf with the ability to shapeshift into any human or animal form. She possesses some abilities similar to a spider, including the ability to stick and climb walls and leap great heights and distances. She fights with explosive orbs resembling crystal balls. Lady Illusion originally worked alongside Lord Fear as his partner in crime, but she surprisingly fell in love with Ace Lightning, eventually leading to her betraying Lord Fear. She is now deeply hated by Lord Fear, who vows to extract vengeance upon her. Voiced by Tamara Bernier.
[edit] Sparx
For more information, see the article on Sparx.
Sparx is a young Lightning Knight and one of Ace's closest friends. Equipped with the Sword of Jacob and the hovercraft, the Lightning Flash, Sparx is a skilled fighter. However, she is often hotheaded and charges into battle without a second thought. Despite these flaws, she is a kind and supportive friend. Sparx had several rivals, including Lord Fear, Lady Illusion and Googler. Voiced by Deborah O'Dell.
[edit] Random Virus
For more information, see the article on Random Virus.
Random Virus is a cyborg Lightning Knight. Due to an accident six years prior to the series, Random was severely damaged in a battle. Most of his body was replaced with mechanical parts, including a deadly claw weapon and caterpillar tracks for movement. However, Random's programming was also damaged, eventually developing two distinct personalities for Random - one good, one evil. The good side wishes to help the Lightning Knights, while the evil side wishes to eradicate all weakness in the universe and is often tricked into helping the villains. Random chooses to usually help neither and hides away in a junkyard. He can control machinery and has superhuman strength. Voiced by Cathal J. Dodd.
[edit] Kilobyte
For more information, see the article on Kilobyte.
Kilobyte is the main antagonist of the second series. Created by the Master Programmer as a means to destroy Ace Lightning, Kilobyte's life goal is to eliminate the Lightning Knights. Known as the Cyber Stalker, Kilobyte had four octopus tentacles which can drain energy from other characters, as well as computers. Kilobyte can also give power to other characters, as seen when he upgrades Lady Illusion. He also uses this ability to morph a common wasp into a giant insect who he names Fred. Voiced by Ted Atherton.
[edit] Dirty Rat
Dirty Rat is one of the recurring villains seen working under Lord Fear or Kilobyte depending who is in charge. A large flying rat dressed in a clown suit, Dirty Rat's job is mainly as a spy, using his enhanced senses of sight, hearing and smell to eavesdrop on the Lightning Knights. Cunning and backstabbing, Dirty Rat follows whoever has the strongest power: Lord Fear in Season 1, and Kilobyte in Season 2. Dirty Rat seems to hate Lord Fear in secret and even rebels against him at one point. However, the rodent is coward by nature and easily rejoins Lord Fear's group. Like most of the villain in the Carnival of Doom, Dirty Rat can morph into an object at the carnival to rest, in this case a stone gargoyle. Dirty Rat often calls Lord Fear by his initials, LF, and calls Kilobyte "Bytey-Baby".
Dirty Rat plays some key points in the series, including finding a piece of the Amulet that Lord Fear uses to summon Googler; stealing Ace's and Lord Fear's Amulet fragments to summon Random Virus; and also using the seventh and last piece to lead the villains into a rebellion against Lord Fear, that last only half a day. During his time on Earth, Dirty Rat develops a close friendship with Duff Kent, and gains great interest in watching television, particularly the shopping channel. Both Lord Fear and Duff have dressed up Dirty Rat in stuffed animal toys for missions or for fun, including a rabbit toy and Duff's hand puppet, Mr. Huckleberry.
In the second season, Dirty Rat is the third villain to be summoned back to Earth after being sent back to the Sixth Dimension at the end of the first season. He immediately joins Kilobyte's side out of fear, and is often punched in the face by Kilobyte when he annoys him. In the final episode, Dirty Rat flees with Lord Fear and Staff Head when Lady Illusion is accidentally destroyed. In the canelled Season 3, he would have been in hiding with Lord Fear and Mr. Cheseborough. He is voiced by Adrian Truss.
[edit] Anvil
Anvil is an enormous, muscle-bound anthropomorphic rhinoceros. His name likely is a reference to the large iron anvil attached to his right arm. Strong in strength, but weak in intelligence, Anvil acts as the powerhouse of the gang of villains, often battling Ace to see who is stronger. Anvil is quick to anger, and has a fear of the dark. Anvil morphs into a strength-testing machine at the Carnival of Doom.
Anvil grows stronger throughout the first series, becoming more of a threat against the Lightning Knights during all their primary encounters. Anvil nearly destroyed Ace when the superhero could not recharge, but the tables turned on Anvil when Ace recharged himself at an observatory and tossed Anvil out of the building's roof, hoping he had a happy landing. Lord Fear seems to treat Anvil as his favourite minion, often petting him like a dog, addressing him as his "muscle-bound minion". Anvil returns to the Sixth Dimension when the Amulet is shattered in the finale of Season 1.
He returns thanks to Lord Fear in the second series, stronger than before. He also seems to developed a sense of humour, often cracking jokes during his clashes with Ace. When Kilobyte arrives, Anvil tries to crush him, but he is drained of his energy. Despite his apparent power boost, Anvil seems to have become weaker and is defeated multiple times by the Lightning Knights. He is voiced by Jerome Howard.
[edit] Pigface
Pigface is an anthropomorphic pig creature. Rather disgusting, Pigface is considered a grotesque member of Lord Fear's gang, due to his terrible mannerisms. He often passes wind, belches and picks his nose. He has the power to digest just about anything, including inorganic items like golf clubs. Pigface is often seen eating out of the trash cans at the Carnival of Doom, or eats all the ice cream from Duff Kent's ice cream truck. Pigface morphs into a trash can at the carnival, that distinctly resembles him in phyisque.
Pigface is the most recurring villain after Lord Fear and Dirty Rat, often helping out with Dirty Rat in his missions. He is also the villain that is most commonly defeated by Ace, who takes every opportunity to crack jokes about Pigface and his habit of constantly eating. Although Pigface has no specific episode focused on him, he appears throughout the series as a supporting villain for Lord Fear and Kilobyte. In Season 2, Pigface is the fourth villain to be summoned back to Earth by Lord Fear, upgraded with a new design and the ability to fire large blasts of snot from his nostrils, can appears to be able to drain energy. Voiced by Keith Knight.
[edit] Googler
Googler is a maniacal jester introduced during the first quarter of the first season. Capable of curling into a spiked ball, Googler can roll and bounce at high speeds to cause mayhem for his enemies or victims. Googler has two minions of his own, two sock puppets named Zip and Snip. Appearing to be mentally unstable, Googler has made up his own language which is made up of words based on his own name, for example, "Googlerise" or "Googlerisation" which his way of saying he is going to kill or wound a person. Googler morphs into a puppet show booth at the Carnival of Doom.
Prior to the series, Googler was imprisoned by Ace Lightning in White Hot Oblivion in Dimension Two, but is freed by Lord Fear. Googler attacks Ace, drains him of his superpowers, and then kidnaps Mark to be eaten by his puppets. Ace saves Mark by regaining his powers and promises Googler he will find a way to send him back to his prison. Googler has been around ever since, causing absolute chaos and mayhem for Ace and Mark. Googler was accidentally abandoned by Duff Kent and Dirty Rat, and wandered the streets of Conestoga Hills. He eventually attacked Mark and Mr. Cheseborough at the local junior high school after being hurt by a noise given off by Mr. Cheseborough's alien detector. Googler's puppets destroy Sparx, but she later returns to return the favour.
In the second series, Googler's role in smaller. He appears in the Sixth Dimension stalking Ace and Sparx, and then Chuck when he is sucked into the game. Googler is eventually summoned back to Earth by the villains. He comes with a new ability that allows him to make characters "bleed" data resembling binary code until they return to the Datastream or die. Sparx and Ace are both hurt, but are saved by an upgrade given to them by Chuck. Googler, who sees himself as equals with Lord Fear, is betrayed by the latter during the final battle, blasted and defeated by his leader.
[edit] Zip and Snip
Zip and Snip are a pair of sock puppets who act as the minins of Googler. Zip and Snip are both identical except for their colours (Zip is red, Snip is blue). Both have the ability to bite through anything, can absorb powers from other characters, and can spew acid into a victim to turn them into a mindless zombie. Zip speaks with a low-pitched voice, and Snip with a high-pitched voice. Both can fly about freely without the presence of Googler. They claim to hate dentists. Both were voiced in Season 1 by Matt Ficner, the character designer of the series.
Both debuted with Googler, and zapped Ace of his superpowers. They also planned to eat Mark if he fell into a dunking tank, but he was saved by Ace once he regained his powers. The two ended up lost with Googler and later attacked Mark and Mr. Cheseborough at the nearby school. Ace and Sparx battled the puppets and Googler, but in the process, Zip and Snip seized Sparx's sword and blasted her with it, destroying her. She later returned to get payback. In Season 2, both puppets returned but did not speak.
[edit] Rotgut
Rotgut is an undead cowboy who generally a useless asset to the group of villains. Summoned in the first episode of the second series, Rotgut proves to be mostly a pathetic excuse for a villain, due to his higher concern of keeping his body from falling apart. Rotgut develops a liking to Chuck after he calls him a "dude" and decides he wants to make him a zombie. Rotgut prefers to be called the Walking Dead than a zombie, and is angered when someone refers to him not by his title. Rotgut can possess the body of a person for a limited time. He appears to enjoy singing classic western songs. He may also like ribs. Rotgut morphs into the ninth hole of the Carnival of Doom's western-themed golf course.
Rotgut's role in the show is mainly for comic relief, his body pieces falling off and usually attacking him. Rotgut is extremely emotional and at one point, asks a group of humans for a hug, Mr. Cheseborough included. Rotgut briefly possesses Chuck's body and spends some time with Mr. Ratburn, the new boss of Mark's father Simon. He leaves Chuck's body eventually and is defeated by Mark. In the last episode, Rotgut tries to take on Ace but the superhero shouts at him to get back into his grave, calling him a "walking dead guy". Rotgut, believing Ace called him the Walking Dead, is overjoyed and thanks Ace, only to be blasted into his grave.
[edit] Pete
Pete (Peter) is Mark's friend from England. He is the first after Mark and Duff Kent to discover Ace Lightning's existence, although at first he doesn't believe Mark. Pete realises otherwise and eventually comes to visit Mark one time. However, Mark gets jealous of Pete as he impresses everyone, even Mr. Cheseborough. Pete is kidnapped by Lord Fear, but rescued by Mark. He decided he was not ready to meet Ace or the other Lightning Knights after watching a brutal battle between Random Virus and Anvil. Pete appears several times in Season 2. Pete is played by Devon Anderson.
[edit] Heather Hoffs
Heather is Samantha's best friend. She is an ambitious overachiever a year young for her grade; her extracurricular activities include swimming, karate, cheerleading, the school newspaper, and basketball. She gains a crush on Mark early on in the series and when he and Samantha break up, she makes her move. She flirts with Mark until they become a couple, which annoys Samantha. Eventually though Heather, fed up with being stood up so many times, breaks up with Mark and unexpectedly ends up dating Brett at the end of the series, as they both share a passion for martial arts movies and sports, including Jackie Chan.
Heather's behaviour turns sour in the second series, though the reasoning behind her personality transformation is unclear. It is obvious that her dislike for Mark at least stems from their earlier failed relationship and her lack of trust in him. Heather becomes a far more overbearing character in the final season, seeming to be a selfish, arrogant and hot-headed girl outside of Sam's influence and regularly battles with Kat for control of the newspaper. She often seems to be attempting to make Mark's life miserable or at the very least not caring about the consequences of her actions on others. In the end, Brett leaves Heather due to her "snotty" attitude and she receives a face full of snot from Pigface. Heather is played by Petra Wildgoose.
[edit] Brett Ramirez
Brett is Samantha's old boyfriend. He was dating her when Mark first appeared on the scene but split up during the events of episode six. Perpetually good hearted, and with a rather large soft spot for her, he stays good friends with Samantha, and even Mark, acting a shoulder for Samantha to cry on when she and Mark have troubles. Brett begins dating Samantha again when she breaks up with Mark, but is still friends with Mark.
Brett is on the middle school's football team with Mark, Chuck and Wayne, and participates in the big match against the school's old rivals. Brett starts dating Heather throughout season two, but is treated badly by her. he seems to have a difficult time in breaking off the relationship and, in comparison to heather, comes across as rather controlled. He eventually dumps her, tired of Heather treating him and Mark like nothing. Brett is played by Brandon Carrera.
[edit] Wayne Fisgus
Wayne is the head bully at the school Mark and Chuck go to, and is constantly bullying Chuck during the first series. He is generally a coward in reality and is terrified of Lord Fear, who he calls the Boneman. Wayne has a cousin called Jessica who dates Chuck. Jessica revealed that Wayne picked his nose when he was young, his mother calling him "Boogerbox". In Season 2, Wayne now has a challenge at beating up Chuck, as he has matured and stands up to him. Wayne is caught in Mark's crazy driving test, fleeing from Lord Fear as he rides the Doom Wagon. Wayne is last seen getting into trouble for supposedly wrecking Mr. Cheseborough science lab when it was actually Mark trying to defeat Rotgut. Mark revealed he was the culprit and Wayne was released an innocent person. Mark writes an article on Wayne for the school's newspaper and when Kat tells him that it is great, Wayne realises he wrote nice things about him and he rushes after Kat, begging her to stop it from printing. Wayne is played by Jordan Hughes.
[edit] Mr. Fisgus
Mr. Fisgus, Wayne's father, appears in Episode 22 of Season One. He and Wayne meet Mark, Chuck, Brett and Simon during their camping trip in Camp Wolfground. Mr. Fisgus is an ambitious, proud and boastful man who looks down on Simon and the boys, but is very proud of Wayne. He describes himself as a professional hunter, and describes squirrels as ferocious monsters. He also claims to have killed an unspecified last of an endangered species. He proven to actually be a coward when Dirty Rat, Pigface and Staff Head attack the camp, Pigface eating all the food in his tent. After the commotion has passed, Wayne and his father make a run for it in their truck, Mr. Fisgus pretending an old injury is acting up. His license plate on his truck is a shortened form of the phrase "Tough Guy".
[edit] Mr. Horace Cheseborough
Horace Cheseborough, better known as Mr. Cheseborough, is a grumpy science teacher working at Conestoga Hills Middle School, and later Conestoga Hills High School. He is a cruel man who likes discipline and silence, not to mention he dislikes children. He immediately takes a disliking to Mark Hollander during his first day in school, insulting his British origins. Cheseborough respects authority and more simpler things, not understanding all the new technology and phrases (particularly present day phrases). Cheseborough at some point in his life worked in the navy and knows a great deal about morse code. However, over time, Mr. Cheseborough turns from a villain into comic relief, although he still tries to make life difficult for Mark and others.
In the early episodes of the series, Mr. Cheseborough is captured by Lord Fear and held hostage at the Carnival of Doom, while Lady Illusion disguises herself as him to steal Mark's piece of the Amulet. Mr. Cheseborough also periodically becomes an attraction at the carnival as the "Mad Scientist", where he is in a cage screaming in anger. Cheseborough panics believing his absent will cause the school board to hire a substitute teacher. Cheseborough is released by Lord Fear, but Dirty Rat hypnotises him into forgetting his capture. However, Mr. Cheseborough's memory is not fully removed, and he believes Lord Fear and all the other game characters are aliens. In order to prove his theory, Cheseborough develops an "alien detecting machine" which Mark volunteers to help him operate. The machine actually works and Googler appears moments later, destroying the machine. Cheseborough races away in terror, not wishing to be probed. In Episode 25, Mr. Cheseborough has become a temporary principal of the school and has used almost all of the school's funding to buy security equipment to spy on all the student. He also has all the students walk single file down corridors and has the food of the cafeteria reduced to almost nothing. Angered, Chuck begins a rebellion against Cheseborough using food he finds hidden in a box. This food turns out to be the food for the upcoming school prom. He also sees Mark speaking to Sparx on a camera and summons both him and Chuck to his office. Mark and Mr. Cheseborough make a deal: Mark will protect Cheseborough from the "aliens" and Cheseborough will remove his security equipment. The final episode of the first season has Mr. Cheseborough revealing to the school's head dinner lady that he adores her cookies and they briefly become an item.
Season Two has Mr. Cheseborough return as a major character. Briefly fired from his job, Mr. Cheseborough got a job in the high school thanks to his teachers union, becoming Mark and Chuck's homeroom teacher and science teacher again. He remains cruel towards Mark and Chuck, but also maintains his fear of aliens. Mr. Cheseborough is captured again by Lord Fear, who fools him into believing he and the other villains are peaceful aliens and Ace Lightning is evil. Cheseborough creates a special formula which can drain Ace of his energy. He creates several copies which he gives to Lord Fear. However, Mr. Cheseborough then breaks the deal when Mark shouts at him for making the deal in the first place. The two make another deal, Mr. Cheseborough will be moderately fair to Mark as long as he protects him from the aliens. Mr. Cheseborough becomes a target for Kilobyte when he goes insane. The villains attack the school where Mr. Cheseborough is hosting an alien encounter support group. Kilobyte captures Mr. Cheseborough and seals him in the Sixth Dimension. Chuck later manages to free him from the Sixth Dimension. Believing the villains are invading, he rushes out into the carnival and screams "The aliens are attacking!". He causes panic and mayhem in the carnival, running around claiming it is the end of the world like a madman. However, the villains are also running riot, further causing panic. Mr. Cheseborough is deemed a madman by a news report after the carnival battle.
The cancelled Season 3 involved Mr. Cheseborough in hiding, and Lord Fear, Staff Head and Dirty Rat would live with him for a period, Lord Fear hoping to use the teacher's knowledge and technology to summon his minions from the Sixth Dimension.
[edit] Duff Kent
Duff Kent is an owner of the Kent Bros. Carnival A.K.A. The Carnival of Doom. Duff is a moustached man who is losing his hair and is a little obese. He is known for his constant complaining to Lord Fear and wearing several different hats. Duff lives in a trailer in the carnival and drives an ice cream truck. He works part-time at the carnival and part-time as selling ice cream. He believes the video game characters are cartoon characters. Duff made his debut in Episode 1 where he was bullied into hiring Lord Fear and his gang as employees. However, Lord Fear soon twisted this so now that Duff worked for him. Duff was treated like dirt by Lord Fear, but became good friends with Dirty Rat. He got along also with Pigface, Googler and Rotgut. Duff went to Ace for help in Episode 8, but claimed he tried to get Ace's piece of the Amulet when confronted by Lord Fear.
Duff tried to sponsor his carnival as a family friendly carnival, using Dirty Rat to manipulate his puppet toy, Mr. Huckleberry. It didn't work out. Duff then went to a psychiatrist with Mr. Huckleberry for company to berate how much he loathed working for Lord Fear, but generally didn't get good help. Duff then betrayed Lord Fear in the last episode of Season 1 by running away but then returning to get his carnival back, nearly running over Lord Fear in the process. For three months, life was peaceful for Duff until Lord Fear and his minions returned. Lord Fear adored Duff's new golf course. Duff was a bit more appreciated then before, but Lord Fear still disliked him. Kilobyte arrived and seemed to not mind Duff's presence. Duff helped Lord Fear convince Mr. Cheseborough that he was a good alien and introduced Lord Fear to television. Duff was last seen blocking Mark and others from entering a particular part of the carnival in the last episode, because Kat, Random Virus and Sparx were imprisoned in the back. It is presumed in Season 3 he would have be in charge again of his fun fair. He is played by Phillip Williams.
[edit] Simon and Fiona Hollander
Simon and Fiona are Mark's loving British parents who moved to America with their son. They moved into the old Andersons house next to Samantha's home. Simon is 45 and likes all the new gadgets he can use. Fiona is 42 and likes all things British. Although strict in some ways, they deeply love and care for Mark.
Simon likes America greatly and is usually seen with some new gadget like a leaf blower or a ride-on lawn mower. He tends to annoy Fiona when using these, and they usually argue. One of Simon's greatets moments is in Episode 2 when he trashes Fiona's beloved flowers and washing. He is a man that dislikes being downgraded as seen in two episodes. He likes camping and goes on a camping trip with Mark, Chuck and Brett to the forest where he is generally picked on by Wayne's father. However, he proves he is braver than him when he fends of Dirty Rat with a frying pan (mistakening him for a vulture). Simon was hired as an accountant by Texas businessman Mr. Ratburn. Simon is criticized several times by Ratburn for not disciplining his son enough, but Simon stands up to him and is hired for his courage and beliefs.
Fiona is a worrying mother and adores garden gnomes. She likes to have some remembrances of England so she cooks up mainly British food like crumpets and kippers. She cares for her family a lot and is often the one that does the housework. She also has a skill in decorating, as seen when she redecorates Mark's room. Fiona gets an unseen job in real estate. They are played by Ned Vukovic and Susan Danford.
[edit] Nettie Kutcher
Mrs. Kutcher was a recurring character who appeared in Season 1. She was the cook of Conestoga Hills Middle School. She greatly appreciated Chuck when he was in the school as he was the only student who generally liked her meals, which everyone considered to be disgusting. Mrs. Kutcher has made several special foods for Chuck including cakes shaped like a brain and UFO. Mrs. Kutcher can freak out a lot when frightened and throw food about in a comical way. Mrs. Kutcher last appeared in Episode 26 where she learnt Mr. Cheseborough adored her cookies and they briefly became a couple. She did not appear in Season 2, probably because she didn't switch schools like Chuck and Mr. Cheseborough. She is played by Diane Douglass.
[edit] Coach

[edit] Ashley Hollander

Ashley promised to Mark she would keep her knowledge of Ace a secret. Ashley returned to watch horror films with Mark and Chuck, but when Lord Fear and his gang invaded the house, Ashley fled upstairs with Chuck only to be surprised by Staff Head who she mistook for the Tooth Fairy. Ashley appeared in Season 2. Her hamster Chika was rescued by Ace from going into orbit, and then helped free Chuck and Sparx from the video game. She is played by Kayla Perlmutter.
[edit] Jessica Fisgus
Jessica is Wayne's cousin and Chuck's girlfriend. Jessica had previously been speaking to Chuck on the fanclub messageboard of Ace Lightning in the show before meeting face to face at Chuck's fanclub meeting. Chuck instantly fell head over heels in love when he met Jessica and even made a deal with Wayne that he would not tell a deep secret about the bully in return that he could be friends with Jessica. Jessica returned in the last episode of Season 1 to be Chuck's date. The two became a couple and dated over the course of Season 2, Jessica calling Chuck "Chucky Wucky". Jessica tried to help Rick download his data onto the school computers to stop Kilobyte, but Rick freaked out when his creation appeared and fled. Jessica is played by Megan Park.
[edit] Felicity Fury
Felicity Fury was one of the disguises Lady Illusion used to get into Mark's house, disguising herself as a pretty housekeeper who Mark briefly had a crush on. Mark soon learnt she was Lady Illusion when she framed him for trashing one of Fiona's vases when it was actually her looking for a piece of the Amulet. Felicity was never seen again after Ace knew who she was. She was played by Brooke D'Orsay.
[edit] The Master Programmer
Rick Hubble is the Master Programmer, the third primary villain and the creator of Ace Lightning, the other characters and the Sixth Dimension. He debuted in Season 2 as a general computer store owner, but was actually controlling Kilobyte in his office - also known as the Fortress of Solitude where only he was allowed in. Rick created Kilobyte and Fred.
Rick worked in the company that made the Ace Lightning video game and somehow designed and produced a programme that could bring the Ace Lightning characters to life. However, he never got a chance to test it as his employers ridiculed, mocked and fired him from his job. Rick believed he could have been the next Bill Gates with his programme, so before he left his job he inserted his programme into one of the games - which was Mark's. All he needed to do was wait for a blast of energy to activate the programme and prove his genius. His wish came true when a lightning bolt struck Mark's house and Ace, Lord Fear and his minions came too life.
Although Rick's existence was not known in Season 1, he was around. He hid in his computer store, watching the events of the show happen using special computer equipment but Lord Fear was destroyed. So Rick created Kilobyte and Fred to carry out his plan for world domination, and even hired Chuck but only so he could keep an eye on him. Rick also upgraded some of the characters and reprogrammed Lady Illusion to get her back on Lord Fear's side, but it still didn't work. Mark and Chuck found out about Rick's scheme but when a power outage occurred, Rick lost control of Kilobyte and was later imprisoned in the game alongside his mad creation. In the cancelled Season 3, Rick was to escape the game but half-human, half-animated. He was played by Brett Heard.
[edit] Fred
Fred is Kilobyte's giant pet wasp. Living as an ordinary wasp near the Friendship Farm, Fred was captured in a jar by Duff and handed to Kilobyte, who allowed the wasp to sting him. Fred somehow took on his powers and grew and mutated into an enormous wasp creature, with large pincers. Kilobyte seems to express love and affection to Fred who he pets and offers food in the form of the Lightning Knights. Duff was rather taken by surprise by Kilobyte's name of choice.
[edit] Candy Floss
Candy Floss, named after the food product, was to appear in the cancelled third season of the television show. Candy's final design had her dressed in a rather gothic manner, dressed in ripped clothes and appeared to be bald. She had the abilities to fire lollypop-shaped arrows from his archery bow which exploded on contact with the target. She also had the ability to fire strings of cotton candy to trap her foes like a spider. It is presumed she would have taken Lady Illusion's role as Lord Fear's mistress.
[edit] Buzzbeast
Buzzbeast was a character who was scrapped during the making of the second season. It resembled some sort of dinosaur, with some resemblance to a raptor. It had a pair of large circular saws built into its head and tail. It is presumed Buzzbeast was scrapped due to the extremely violent attacks he could cause with his blades.
[edit] Scrambler
Scrambler is another scrapped character, often believed to be a prototype design for Kilobyte. Scrambler's form is similar to Kilobyte's design, with the exception of two extra tentacles, a total of six on Scrambler, and also the presence of hair resembling dreadlocks.
[edit] Giant George Wayne
A giant golem seen in the television show and the video games, George Wayne is a cowboy made of stone. He lives in a large tomb in the graveyard by the Carnival of Doom. In the game upon meeting Ace, Giant George seems to mistake Ace for Geronimo and proceeds to try and step on him. Ace lures Giant George around the tomb, causing him to stumble over Dirty Rat, eventually falling unconscious and squashing Dirty Rat into the ground. In the second series of the television show, Giant George briefly appears to battle Sparx but he is knocked unconscious.
[edit] Connie Woodward
Connie Woodward is a local news reporter who seems to report on news in Conestoga Hills. She first appears in Episode 16 where she is following the alien conspiracy started by Chuck after he records footage of Sparx mistaking her for an alien. She meets Chuck during the start of the conspiracy and then visits a security guard of an impounded car building who previously encountered Lord Fear and Staff Head. She reappears towards the end of the episode, witnessing Mr. Cheseborough being escorted out of the school ranting insanely. She goes on to start talking about sightings of Big Foot. She reappears in the last episode of the series where she describes the mayhem that occurred at the carnival. She condemns Mr. Cheseborough as a madman and advices viewers to avoid him. She also interviews Duff briefly who takes the opportunity to promote his carnival as family friendly.
