Lisa Murtagh

Lisa Murtagh was the winner of the 2007 Rose of Tralee contest and is the current title holder. Over 1 million viewers watched her victory on television. She entered the contest after "three old ladies" approached her in a pub in Limerick and told her she should enter the contest because of her beautiful hair.[1]

She grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York and is of Irish descent. She was the first New York rose to win the contest since 2000. Lisa also works as an attorney, and in the future plans to pursue other opportunities such as investment banking or teaching law.
