[edit] Biography

[edit] Early life

Lisa Nicole Kimmey was born in Oberlin, Ohio to Robert and Delise Kimmey. Her mother Delice says she got saved when she was pregnant with Lisa in 1975. Lisa has two sisters. Joy Danielle Kimmey and Andrea Kimmey-Baca. When Kimmey was a child her parents separated and she moved with her mother and sisters. Delice married another man and it turned out he was not what she married.. A few years later Delice left the man and moved away with her daughters. Despite going through a lot of tough things, the family have experienced that their faith in God got stronger every day. Lisa was always encouraged to read the bible. If she did not, her mother asked her why not?, and told her to do so. Her mother would have Lisa and her sisters to walk to a stranger on the streets and tell this person about God. Delice nearly got arrested one time in a mall for having her daughters perform a christian play. Lisa and her sisters were home schooled up until High School, when they started going to a regular school. Lisa kept a distance from her classmates and their ways of life. She did not drink, smoke and swear or have sex before marriage. She even stopped contact with friends that she thought might not share with her, faith in God. Lisa was once married to Michael Bragg. They later divorced. Now she has remarried.

[edit] Career

Out of Eden performed as a group from 1994 to 2006[1]. They have certainly gone through some ups and downs. When they started their audience wasn't so happy about their genre. People at that time preferred old school Gospel.

Some years later they lacked source of income and had to cancel a tour. It was not even certain the group would continue.

They have a huge crowd of fans world-wide and have toured to a variety of places.

They sang in Africa, sang for the army in the U.S etc.

[edit] Controversy

The group has gained support as well as controversy for their strong faith. They feel strongly about doing ministry and performing modestly on stage. This does not only reach to their musical performances but also to their daily life. They feel they have a duty when they are not on stage too.

They actively do outreach all around the world.

[edit] Purity

Lisa as well as her sisters has committed herself to purity. The exact meaning of this is that she doesn't have sex before marriage. Purity also means you should not talk about sex in an improper way and that you should dress and behave modestly.

[edit] Personal life

Lisa Kimmey lives in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been divorced and has no children from her first marriage; but she was recently remarried to Juan Winans (of the contemporary gospel group, Winans Phase II). Juan is the son of Carvin Winans (of Detroit's famed gospel Winans family).
