Lisa Kekaula (born July 31, 1967 in Los Angeles, California) is the lead singer of American "rock 'n' soul" band The Bellrays. She has also featured on two singles by British house music band Basement Jaxx.
Kekaula was born to an African-American mother, Linda and Native-Hawaiian father, Alan Kekaula in Los Angeles, California, although the family continued to grow and relocated to suburban Moreno Valley, California. While there, Kekaula began to immerse herself in singing and had her first appearance in a talent show at Edgemont Elementary School. It was there Kekaula realized her calling.
Shortly after graduating from Moreno Valley High School, Kekaula met and fell in love with husband Bob Vennum, a native of nearby Fontana, California. The two met while working at The Bull in Mouth, a Riverside sandwich shop. In 1987, the two welcomed a baby girl, Twylla, while both attended the University of California at Riverside.
There is a link between the singer and the retro proto-punk band the MC5; The Bellrays have performed with the incarnated MC5 during their 2004 European Tour.
