Lisa Backhouse
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lisa Backhouse presented the ABC's Queensland weekend TV news bulletin for nine years from 1998.
Lisa started with the ABC as a cadet in Brisbane in 1988. She worked in Townsville for almost two years, before moving to Canberra where she reported national politics. Lisa returned to the ABC in Queensland where she has been presenting the weekend TV news since 1998, adding the hosting of Stateline to this schedule in 2004.
Lisa sadly departed the ABC under difficult circumstances. Diagnosed with breast cancer, and upset at what she believed was ABC Management's lack of concern over a possible cancer cluster at the Brisbane studios, she chose her health and departed in late 2006.
The ABC has since abandoned it's Brisbane studios as a result of the cancer cases.
Lisa is now employed as a relief presenter on National Nine News in Brisbane, where she continues to reside.
