Lisa B

Lisa B (Lisa Baird[1]) is a political spoken word poet based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Since 2001, she has performed spoken-word poetry at shows around B.C. and in Oregon. She describes herself as a queer woman and an incest and violence survivor.[2]

Lisa B has self-published four chapbooks:

  • star tissue (2002)

  • how thirsty bird sang down the sky (2005)

She debuted recording with the spoken word CD, salvaged music.[3] For this CD, she worked with local Victoria talent (including members of barley wik and glenna g) to create a fusion of spoken word and music with diverse instrumentation.
