Lira (mollusc)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lirae (sing. lira) are fine lines or ridges (much finer than ribs) that serve as ornament on mollusc (e.g. gastropod, bivalve and nautiloid) and brachiopod shells.

The term is also used to refer to fine linear elevation of shelly material within the outer lip of some gastropod shells.
