[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Black Crowes Lions.jpg

Image:Black Crowes Lions.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Audley Freed

I was under the impression that, though he was part of the band's touring line-up, Audley Freed didn't play any of the guitar on this album, it was all Rich Robinson (except for Craig Ross on Greasy Grass River). Beve (talk) 06:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

He mentions a few of his contributions here: http://web.archive.org/web/20020127044636/http://cool.syntrillium.com/closeups/freed/ If I can find a complete list of his contributions, I'll incorporate it into the article. —Zeagler (talk) 12:11, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Rich says here (http://www.nudeasthenews.com/interviews/35) that Audley played on a few songs. —Zeagler (talk) 12:17, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I'll have a read of that and listen out for his bits on the album. I also didn't know up till now who had played the bass - just that it was much better than on By Your Side. Beve (talk)

[edit] GAN on hold

  • Lead needs expansion - 2/3 paragraphs recommended so it fully discusses the article
  • When using a date like "2001-05-06" in refs, put [[ ]] around it so as to format it per WP:DATE
  • "in January and February of 2001[9]" - need some punctuation under the ref (though you should rewrite the lead anyway, per just above)
    • Y Done I think that's what you meant... —Zeagler (talk) 13:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
  • None of these references are available online? Those that are need accessdates
    • Y Done Found two. The rest I found through LexisNexis. —Zeagler (talk) 13:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
  • "primarily due to the band's reluctance to hire someone with limited touring experience after the Pipien episode." - got a ref for this?
    • Y Done It was the same reference as the preceding sentence, so I moved it back. —Zeagler (talk) 13:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Rich explained,..." - refer to them (always) by surname
    • "Chris claimed the influence of Kate Hudson" - etc. etc. etc.
      • N Not done Rich and Chris are brothers. Is it necessary to use their full name each time? —Zeagler (talk) 13:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
        • Sorry, you're right. I'm easily confused...that's my excuse, anyway! :) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
  • ""Lions is a symbol that stands for the fierce feeling and freedom that music allows you" - album title in italics
    • N Not done It seemed from the article that Chris was talking about the word 'Lions' and not the album. Agree? —Zeagler (talk) 13:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
      • I didn't personally get that impression, but I'll take your word for it. It's really not that big a deal. To be correct he would have said "Lions are" though ;) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Lots of quoting, not much of your own words. Try and discuss more, rather than just throwing out lots of quotes.
    • Y Done Added numerous ideas, replaced a couple of quotes with my own ideas, removed one superfluous quote altogether. —Zeagler (talk) 13:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
  • "The album has sold 192,000 copies in the U.S. as of January 2002." - anything more up to date?
    • N Not done No. I did plenty of searching before I settled for the 2002 figures.
      • Not accusing you of anything, just checking! No problem. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
  • "Other reviewers noted similarities to Aerosmith[1]," - ref should go after punctuation
  • References section is kinda pointless

Leave a note on my talk page when done. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:06, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Passed. If you have the time, please help with the GAN backlog by reviewing an article yourself. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm really impressed. This article has come a hell of a long way and it's a really interesting read now. I especially like the quote from Howard Cohen, calling Lickin' "the best Aerosmith single that band hasn't recorded in years." I can totally imagine Steven Tyler salaciously sleazing those lyrics. I also think Midnight From The Inside Out is the best Oasis single that band hasn't recorded in years. And you can quote me on that. Great work! Beve (talk) 19:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
