Lionel Ford

The Very Revd Lionel George Bridges Justice Ford[1] (1865-1932) was an Anglican priest who served as Dean of York after two headships at eminent English public schools[2]. Born into a distinguished family [3] he was educated at Repton and King's College, Cambridge [4] before embarking on a career as a school master at Eton, during which time he was ordained a curate in the Anglican church[5]. Subsequently headmaster at Repton and then Harrow [6]he ascended to the Deanery at York in 1925, a post he was to hold until his death seven years later[7]. His memorial is in the restored Zouche Chapel[8].
