Lion-faced_deity.jpg (205 × 252 pixels, file size: 22 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
A lion-faced deity from Bernard de Montfaucon's L'antiquité expliquée et représentée en figures. Although the figure frequently appears on so-called "Gnostic" gems, we do not know what it represented in an ancient context. The figure is sometimes labeled "Iao."
