[edit] LGBT Categories
Hi, Lincolnite! Having all those CT Reps and Sens in "Gay politicians" as well as in "LGBT politicians from the United States" in a bit redundant, isn't it? I thought the project was trying to place people in a sexuality-specific-occupation (like "Lesbian musicians") as well as in a more general location ("LGBT people from someplace"). Thoughts? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 06:31, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- To be honest, I'm not aware of discussion within the project regarding categorization. Whilst I agree that including them in both categories seems redundant, I'd argue that the "LGBT politicians from the United States" category is far more useful and valuable than the "Gay politicians" cat. Politicians are rooted to their localities far more than most other professionals (e.g. musicians, writers, etc.) and having these two large international categories (I refer to G&L; B&T being pretty small) is, I'd argue, of little use in aiding navigation. Your reaction? -- Lincolnite (talk) 06:53, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
-
- Hm. Forgot to watch your page - sorry :) I've started discussions three times on the project pages with little to no input. It's extremely frustrating! But the last I knew, the above was what people were working with.
- You're right that politicians are more locality-specific. But then we're left with the redundant setup. Doesn't having
- work just as well (or better) than having
- Just my opinion. I'd love to see some more actual (and fuller) discussion on the cat system for the LGBT articles, but that hasn't happened yet. Sigh. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 18:49, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

- In the absence of a more far-reaching discussion, I'd have thought that putting them all in Category:LGBT politicians from the United States makes navigation far easier that having them hidden amongst hundreds of others in Category:LGBT people from the United States. No? -- Lincolnite (talk) 18:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Captions
How do you add captions to the end of your edits? I hope i'm not bothering you, but since you seem to know how to do it I thought I would ask.--Casey S (talk) 02:22, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the question. I assume you're referring to the edit summary, which is what then appears in brackets under a page's history. When you edit an article, there's a small box under the main editing box that's labeled "Edit summary (Briefly describe the changes you have made):". Ideally, you should enter a quick summary of any changes you've made in that box. A quick guide to edit summaries can be found here. Hope that helps. - Lincolnite (talk) 03:11, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! That really helped a lot.

[edit] Conclusion: Image placeholders centralized discussion
Hi. I'm sending this to you because you participated in the Centralized discussion on image placeholders that ended on 23 April.
That discussion must produce a conclusion.
We originally asked "Should the addition of this box [example right] be allowed? Does the placeholder system and graphic image need to be improved to satisfy policies and guidelines for inclusion? Is it appropriate to some kinds of biographies, but not to others?" (See introduction).
Conclusions to centralized discussions are either marked as 'policy', 'guideline', 'endorsed', 'rejected', 'no consensus', or 'no change' etc. We should now decide for this discussion.
Please read and approve or disapprove the section here: Conclusion --Kleinzach (talk) 11:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Please note this message conforms to WP:CANVASSING and has not been sent to anyone has not already participated in the centralized discussion.

[edit] Rollback
I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. [edit] Romanian Stadiums Names
The stadiums in Italy have articles on English Wikipedia with their official names like: Stadio Olimpico, Stadio Ennio Tardini and the list can go on. More examples can come from other stadiums like Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and Estadio Alberto J. Armando. The best thing to do in this case is to use the official names. If those rules can apply to one article, then let those rules be applied to all. I had the same discussion with other wikipedian on the naming of Romanian clubs. You can do whatever you want with those articles because I will not edit anymore on wiki for one reason: it has rules that apply only to some articles whilst others are being protected by careful editors. I had a good time contributing over the past 2 years but the enthusiasm of editing faded over the past few months. Gabinho (talk) 19:23, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Indologist
I've responded to your inquiry about the capitalization of "Indologist" on the WP:CFDS page. Thanks. Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for being nice about things and being comfortable with changing your mind. It's a refreshing attitude and one that is far too uncommon among editors. Good Ol’factory (talk) 05:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I'm more than happy to be corrected when I'm wrong. Happy editing. — Lincolnite (talk) 08:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Your opinion
Hi, saw that you just edited Matt Di Angelo's page. Can you please help me figure out exactly what day he was born? On IMDB is states 1 May and also the first external link. Yet the other fansite says August 6 and if you google his birthday it comes up August 6. Looking back at the page history, the dates have been changed numerous times. What do you think? Roadrunnerz45 (talk 2 me) 10:34, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't know any more than you do. You're quite right that Google contains both results, although the August date comes up more often than the May date. Then again, that doesn't necessarily mean much. And I'm not sure IMDB is a great source for this kind of information. I'd leave it as is (i.e. August) and not get too bothered if/when another editor changes it back. — Lincolnite (talk) 10:42, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Helping me
Hey no problem. Yeah that was dumb on my part to create a username of the same subject that I wrote about.. I will never do that again. But I have no real interest in promoting this company I just have alot of information about the oil business in general and I didnt realize I could contribute to Wikipedia, and now that I know I can I wanted to share my knowledge of the oil world with wikipedia. These are just facts and have no bearing in either direction. I tried to make a NPOV by utilizing only facts from articles and websites. Licolnite, do you think you could help this subject in making it NPOV? (if you think that there is conflict of interests.) I just didnt want to use my name as a user name is all, thats why it looks conflicted. Motorex (talk) 12:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC) I also wrote this on the Motorex talk page.
[edit] Yuhki Kamatani
Hi,
You tagged this newly created article for a speedy delete tonight; I checked it, and found that, whilst poorly written, it was a perfectly valid article. I tidied it up, and a brand new user, and others, have helped to improve it. An administrator kindly agreed to remove the speedy tag.
If you'd care to check Yuhki Kamatani now, it's shaping up quite well.
Please be very careful in speedy tagging; a quick google search, and checking the mentioned article (which was not wikilinked) would demonstrate the notability of the article.
I think new users can often be put off editing by over-zealous tagging of new articles for speedy delete.
So, as politely as possible, please be a bit more careful with the speedy tagging.
Thanks, -- Chzz ► 02:41, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. I notice the same happened with Wacker Construction Equipment AG. Please be very careful. -- Chzz ► 04:07, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

- You're quite right, Chzz – I was being too hasty. I kind of got carried away with the possibilities of Twinkle! Thanks for the heads-up. — Lincolnite (talk) 10:22, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Canada soccer team
Saw that you undid my revision. Surely the managerial history of the squad deserves its own subheading rather than playing staff, which merely mentions the staff currently employed as part of the CMNT camp. Please respond on user: themodelcitizen's talk page, as I'm on a public computer now and haven't logged in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.236.93.210 (talk) 18:19, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Victory logo.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Victory logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:29, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, that's fine. Someone has since uploaded a better version of the logo. I've added a speedy tag under G7 – author-requested deletion... — Lincolnite (talk) 16:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
