[edit] The Duke of Edinburgh

If the Duke of Edinburgh is included in the succession, shouldn't his children be included as well? Also, what of the children of the Duke's four sisters? Charles 22:47, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Prince Philip should not be in this list. He renounced claim to the Hellenic Throne when he married Princess Elizabeth and was created Duke of Edinburgh Dowew 13:44, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
There were and are no provisions for renouncing the Greek throne, are there?
This is disputed. See http://www.heraldica.org/faqs/britfaq.html#p2-30 Motsu 10:23, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Line of succession

The line of succession is limited to descendants of Georgios I.

Also to retain succession rights one must obtain permission from both the monarch and the head of the Greek Orthodox Church. I vonH 02:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Alexandra Wynkoop

Will there be the document showing that she holds succession rights? Motsu 10:29, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I looked for a source about this, but am not found.
In alt.talk.royalty, some people insisted it, but they didn't show that evidence.
And nobody offers a source here for a long time.
I remove her. Xantios (talk) 20:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No Greek throne, new title required

There is no Greek throne, how can there be a succession? If there is a monarchy established in Greece, then anyone can be selected as monarch. Politis 19:15, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

You did happen to notice that the article has a box "Orders of Succession:Former Monarchies", didn't you? Makes it clear it is about the former Greek throne, not a current one. Dimadick 15:59, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

I would like to note the following: The title "KING OF GREECE" belongs to the descendants of King Otto - the Wittelsbachs. The current descendants of George I of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg line of the House of Oldenburg have a right to the royal title of King of the Hellenes. They are NOT entitled to the royal title King of Greece, even if often referred to as such.86.151.7.125 (talk) 11:29, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Otto had no descendants. His heir was his younger brother Luitpold, Prince Regent of Bavaria.Dimadick (talk) 11:07, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

100% correct!! I meant, the title belongs to the Wittelsbachs. Descendant was not the best word to use, perhaps heir would work better. As said the titular Kings of Greece were:

-Otto (from 1862) -Luitpold (until 1912) -Leopold (until 1930) -Georg (until 1943)

... after that it is unclear who succeeded to the title. Either it was Georg's son Franz (if he was truly legitimized and recognized as such) or his younger brother Prince Konrad and then his son Prince Eugen.86.157.112.56 (talk) 15:29, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
