Talk:Lindy exchange

[edit] Article title

AFAIK, "lindy exchange" is not a proper name and should not be capitalised. In the name of a specific event, yes, but not otherwise. I suggest this page be moved to "lindy exchange". // Habj 10:11, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree. The article was created by a new user who probably didn't know about our title policy, and I never had the guts to change it when I got to it. I'll go ahead and make the change since I doubt anyone will object. --Cswrye 03:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] US only / globalisation?

I do not quite understand the sentence "The modern concept of the lindy exchange was an answer to the globalization effort to spread lindy hop throughout the world." AFAIK the "lindy exchange" is an American term, lindy gatherings in other parts of the world are named differently. (This should probably be included in the article also.) // Habj 20:19, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree - the sentence doesn't make sense. I haven't edited it yet as i've been busy. The term 'exchange' is used in other countries, though with varying meanings (eg an event titled an exchange may include workshops... though this is true of some american exchanges as well). I'll have a look through the article and redo this stuff when I get a chance. PlainJane 08:01, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
