[edit] Coins in the receiving vault

When one goes to the original tomb Lincoln was put in after his death, one can see a large number of coins on the floor of the vault. Has anyone else who's visited the Lincoln Tomb wondered about this? Is this some sort of good luck tradition or something else entirely? 15:26 26 July 2006

It's a pretty common practice world-wide: fountains, statues, etc. Rklawton 20:42, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Right, but I didn't know it also extended to gravesites. 16:40 26 July 2006
Grave sights, especially famous ones, attract all sorts of cruft. Rklawton 21:44, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cenotaph?

The 7 ton monument is located approximately over the burial vault. This DOES NOT make it a cenotaph. A cenotaph is placed where there is no body, this is a glaring error in the text.T.E. Goodwin 13:28, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
