Linett Purcell

Linet Purcell (b. 1955) is a Welsh politician, and member of Plaid Cymru, standing for election in the National Assembly for Wales election, 2007 for the Aberavon constituency. Linet was elected as a county councillor to Neath Port Talbot council for the Pontardawe ward in the 2008 local elections on May 1st.
Purcell was born in Liverpool to Welsh parents. Whilst studying at the University of Wales, Bangor between 1973 and 1976, she became a supporter of Plaid Cymru.
Linet was a music teacher between 1977 and 2004 and has taught in various locations. She has since resigned as a full-time teacher following spells in Llanelli and Swansea, and now works part time at primary and secondary level.
Linets thirst for politics started at an early age. She was very much influenced by her parents who were strong activists and passionately stood up for their rights and beliefs. Linet, through all of her teaching career was admired by the students and faculty. She was regarded as wonderfully inspiring, a good Christian and a caring and dedicated mentor.
Linet's political interests include economic development. In her spare time, Linet enjoys gardening, cycling and swimming.
