Linear park

A linear park is a park that is a lot longer than it is wide. It is often formed as a part of a rails to trails conversion of railroad beds to Rail trail recreational use. Other linear parks make use of strips of public land next to canals, creeks, electrical lines, highways [1], and shorelines. [2]

In some cities it is common to design linear parks that run through residential areas where housing will front streets and back onto small linear parks containing a pathway, trees and grass. This is a common urban design practices in some Canadian cities such as Saskatoon.
