On December 6, 2004 Vivas was fired from the Fresno State head coaching position over Title IX problems. She then filed with the U.S. Department of Education Office over alleged gender based discrimination. On July 9, 2007, she was awarded $5.85 million by a jury for back pay and expenses. [1]
