Lindisfarne Mead

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lindisdarne Mead is an alcoholic beverage from Northumbria in the UK. Like other mead, Lindisdarne mead is fermented from honey. After four decades of negotiations, the company producing Lindisfarne Mead, Lindisfarne Ltd has gained permission to import its mead to the USA. US authorities had claimed Lindisfarne mead, as it contained grapes and herbs, was not mead by their definition. The product will be imported to the USA under the name Lindisfarne mede, in order to differentiate it from honey-only meads [1,2].
