Lindi St Clair

Lindi St Clair (real name Marian June Aken, born August 1952, London[1]) is a late 20th century British prostitute. She was also known as Miss Whiplash, and has used other similar aliases. For many years, from the mid seventies until her bankruptcy in 1992 (after the Inland Revenue pursued her for tax evasion[2]), she offered her services from her own large three storey house at Eardley Crescent, in Earls Court London. An extremely successful dominatrix, she once owned a yellow Rolls Royce and had her own yacht, which she kept at Bray in Berkshire. She also appeared on television on several occasions, including an appearance on the Ruby Wax Show and the earlier the James Whale show (with a fawning appearance of John McCririck)

Despite being a lesbian, she entered into two marriages of convenience in 1995 and 1999, the later being a transsexual and making the headlines for two "Women" marrying. At the time, the UK only allowed someone born a man and a woman to marry.

Lindi published her autobiography, Its only a Game, circa 1988, but this book is out of print at the current time.

She accused the Inland Revenue of trying to live off immoral earnings when they asked her to pay income tax, because they classed prostitution as a trade. Similarly, she tried to set up a company to avoid paying income tax on her 'earnings'. This was initially refused by the Registrar of Companies, but later accepted. The Attorney General subsequently had the company's registration cancelled on the grounds that a contract for immoral services is void and unlawful.

She tried to get elected to the House of Commons, standing for The Corrective Party in nine by-elections. The party campaigned for the liberalisation of British laws on prostitution and the sex trade. Her bankruptcy in 1992 disqualified her from standing for parliament again.

In the 1990s, she left her successful dungeon in Charlton (Eastcombe Avenue), London that sported pictures of famous people and cabinet ministers on the wall and moved to a farm in rural Risbury, Herefordshire, where she still lives, raising ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits.
