Linda Yu (Xian, China, 1947) is a news anchor for WLS-TV in Chicago. There she anchors the 11am newscast with Sylvia Perez and the 4pm newscast with Alan Krashesky. Linda first joined the station in 1984 after five years with rival NBC O & O WMAQ-TV. Ms. Yu has anchored the 4pm newscast for about 25 years, most of it with veteran news anchor Joel Daly, and the 11am newscast for 15 years with Sylvia Perez. The two women are the first two women in the Chicago market to anchor a newscast together. Before coming to Chicago, she worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for ABC O & O KGO-TV from 1975-1979. Before that, she was a reporter for KATU-TV in Portland, Oregon.
Her career in broadcasting began in 1974 when she was a writer and producer for KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, and then as a writer for ABC O & O KABC-TV also in Los Angeles. Ms. Yu graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1968. Linda currently resides in Chicago with her children.
