[edit] Biography
Linda was born in Maple Ridge, Canada. After graduating from Vancouver's Templeton Secondary School in 2002, Linda attended the University of British Columbia for a year. During that same year, Linda participated and won first place in a beauty-talent show hosted by Crystal Mall, an Asian mall located in Burnaby, British Columbia.
In 2003, Linda won the title of Miss Chinese Vancouver, along with three awards in the same event. In 2004, she joined Miss Chinese International, a beauty contest organized by TVB, and became the third Vancouverite in 4 years to win Miss Chinese International after Bernice Liu in 2001 and Shirley Zhou in 2002. The 1st and 2nd runner-up in the same year was Mandy Cho (Hong Kong) and Carlene Aguilar (Manila).
Prior to entering beauty pageants, her desire was to become a teacher.[1]
[edit] Career
Linda made her acting debut in the series Virtues of Harmony II, the modern spin-off of the highly successful sitcom, Virtues of Harmony. Her role in Always Ready earned her the Most Improved Female Actress Award in 2006's TVB Anniversary Awards. As TVB started to promote her, she was heavily criticised for her bad acting skills, squeaky voice and over-exposure. Her role in the high-rating series, Heart of Greed, has been described as her breakthrough role and was nominated for TVB's "My Most Favourite Female Character Role" Award.
In addition to acting, Linda has also sung themesongs for some of the serials that she has participated in, including the themesongs for Legends of Demigods, Best Bet, A Journey Called Life and the subtheme for Heart of Greed. In May 2008, Linda signed a deal with Star Entertainment to attempt a music career. The company intends to promote her as a pure "jade girl" idol. The company's CEO praised her diligence and youthful vigor. [2][3]
