Lincoln School is situated in Nepal, Kathmandu. It is a free environment for all the students. There are many programs to be offers.
Lincoln School is like any other American school except much smaller. The school at the present consist of no more than 300 students. There is pre – school which are children from ages. Of 4 or 5. These children are assisted by a qualified teacher and 2 more assistances. This is the same situation for the grade above. Grade 1- 5 are known as elementary. These are children from ages 6 – 10. These children still all have still are their same subjects and are always in the same grope. In middle school grades 6 – 8 ages 11 – 13 get more of a variation. First of all they get 4 classes per day. Each of these classes are an hour and a half long. The class in 6th grade dons’t split besides for thoes who need ESOL (English as a second language). In 7th grade the grade gets spit up to ESOL again and those who don’t need this class go to French class. This same split gets done in 8th grade but they also get split into 2 different classes. 8th grade math or IM1(intergraded math 1 ). 8th grade is also the first year where students have to take exams. But this doesn’t come on the transcript of the students which starts in grade 9 the first year of high school. High school are the grades 14- 17 or in most situation the age of 18. The same schedule except they are more divided to their choice and abilities. A special thing that Lincoln offers for the seniors is a senior project. This project they work on for the entire year and have a presentation at the end of the year. SAT/AP tests are also hosted for students at Lincoln.
After school most of the students remain at school. For the younger students they offer multiple things. Such as badminton, tennis, drums, guitar, gymnastics, etc. The middle school also get offered this program but they can also just stay at school and catch a later bus this goes the same for the high school.
Another thing done after school is a program named SASIA (South Asian International Association). This is an organization that is in league with a many other school throughout south Asia. There are around 12 schools involved and they travel to one of the schools that then is known as the host of the competition. There are many various things done as such. Manly sports such as basketball and football. But such thing as a math competition also comes forth. They also join alto of events and create mass shows for music and for art.
Lincoln School class are diverse and there is not one class where students of a particular grade are together. So in grades 5 – 12 they have a program named explore Nepal. This a week where the students of particular classes go on a trek or do soothing educational but still fun. This is enjoyable for all students since they always do something right for there age level.
