[edit] History
Lincoln Minster School was formed in 1996 with the amalgamation of three schools:
- The Cathedral School for Boys was the base for the young Cathedral Boy Choristers.
- St Josephs School for Girls which was originally a Roman Catholic School, housing day and boarding girls and
- Stonefield House School which taught children up to the age of 11.
[edit] About
[edit] Classrooms
Lincoln Minster boasts some technologically advanced classrooms. Every classroom is equipped with a Dell computer and an ACTIVBoard (made by Promethean). These electronic white boards enable interactive lessons and makes watching or looking at animations, videos and reading a lot easier (both for the tutor and the pupils).
[edit] Boarding
Across all the schools there are 4 houses:
- Hillside (girls)
- Cathedral or 'Jimmys' (Prep)
- School (V's and VI's)
- Pottergate (boys)
- The Andy Wright Emporium (name currently at trial stages)
[edit] Music
Lincoln Minster is connected to Lincoln Cathedral (the choir boys and girls all come from Minster). The chamber choir has performed with G4, been featured on Songs of Praise and were placed in the top six in Songs of Praise's nation-wide search for the best choir. They have recently put on a production of the opera Dido and Aeneas and are set to tour Venice this Easter.
[edit] ICT
Lincoln Minster owns some of the most advanced ICT centres in the country.
[edit] Sports
School sports are rugby union, cricket and occasionally football although most choose to carry on with sevens Rugby. The girls sports are hockey, netball and rounders predominantly. Hockey is played by both boys and girls.
The school offers many sport extra curricular activities including; Sailing, Weight Training and Running. The sailing takes place a North Hykeham Sailing Club in the sailing season (April-Oct).
The current under 16's team (2006-2007) has achieved some great achievements. The team won the Lincolnshire Cup, by beating all the schools it has played against, only having a total of 10 points scored against them in 23 matches. The team was captained by Jake Barron (Market Rasen U16's, Lincoln Minster 1st XV). The U16's recorded a great achievement this year by getting to the quarter finals of the National Sevens (Roslyn Park), only to lose out by one point to the team which went on to the final. Some players out of the squads have gone to represent bigger teams. Jake Barron (Rotheram Acadamey, Sleaford U17') Jamie Clark (Leicester Tiger EPDG, Scottish Exiles, Auckland Blues) Josh Wilson (Samoa, Toulouse)
