[edit] Media Spotlight
Federal officers arrested Theodore Kaczynski on April 3, 1996, at his remote cabin outside Lincoln under suspicion of being the "Unabomber," the political terrorist who had murdered numerous people through pressure-sensitive bombs placed inside mail packages. He later plead guilty to thirteen counts for attacks in three states that killed three and injured two and is serving life in prison with no chance of parole. Lincoln was featured heavily in the world news and the small town was completely overrun by media personnel.
Lincoln was featured in the 1999 film The Insider, although the city the producers used to portray Lincoln was completely inaccurate. It shows Lincoln as having numerous city streets and tall buildings. In reality, only one central road runs through Lincoln and the tallest structure in the small forest town is only two stories.
There have also been several eyewitness accounts of Bigfoot in the general Lincoln area near the Blackfoot River.
[edit] Notable residents
- Doug Swingley, four-time winner of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, was born here.
- Ted Kaczynski, Unabomber, lived in a small cabin just outside of town.
