[edit] Authenticity

I've seen this photo in many articles about Thomas Lincoln, but I've usually seen qualifiers (such as "this is believed to be an image of Thomas Lincoln"). I'm not an expert on this, and I'm not trying to make trouble: Just curious if anyone can describe the provenance of the image -- where it came from, when it was first published, etc. It looks like it's in exceptionally good shape for a pre-1851 image, which has sometimes raised doubts in my mind.--Idols of Mud (talk) 16:12, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
