Limatula, the file shells or file clams, is a genus of bivalve mollusc in the Limidae family.

The shells are elongately ovate, much higher than wide, equivalve and almost equilateral, thin, white, and longitudinally ribbed.

They are free swimmers on sandy bottoms, from shallow to deep water. They are widely distributed.
