Lim Boon Chay

Lim Boon Chay (Chinese: 林文材; pinyin: Lín Wéncái) is the founder, chairman and managing director of Thong Siek Food Industry, a leading seafood product manufacturing business in Singapore.
Lim started off in the 1970s with a market stall selling home-made fishballs and fish cakes. Today, he heads a company that employs 242 people with a revenue of SGD$30 million. His company specializes in manufacturing and distributing surimi-based (or minced fish paste in Japanese) seafood products, with exports to markets around the world.
Lim is known in Singapore as the "Fishball Tycoon" (鱼丸大王). In 2001, he received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award given by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises with the Rotary Club of Singapore.
