Limón y Sal is Julieta Venegas' fourth, Grammy-winning, studio album. It was recorded in Buenos Aires and first released in Mexico on the May 30, 2006 and in the U.S. on June 6, 2006.To date the album has sold over 1 million copies worldwide
The album's overall themes deal with the general ups and downs of life and relationships. All the songs were composed by Venegas, with the exception of three songs, where she had the help of Coti Sorokin and Cachorro López. The album was nominated for Album of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards of 2006, winning one prize for Best Alternative Music Album
The first single was "Me Voy", a song about falling out of love. Some notable songs are "Primer Día" and its reggae rhythm, sung in a duet with Dante Espinetta. In "De Qué Me Sirve" she plays the accordion in a tango and "bolero" fashion. "Eres Para Mí" is a duet with Chile singer Anita Tijoux.
Me Voy, the first single, is widely considered Venegas's most successful song ever, reaching top positions in Latin America, the U.S., Spain, Italy and other parts of Europe. The song managed to top the Mexican Top 100 for 12 weeks, the year's longest run. The song reached the top 5 in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama. The song also reached the U.S. Latin Top 10, her highest peaking single ever. The song even topped the Swiss charts, as well as the Spanish and the Italian, where the song even managed to top the iTunes Top downloaded.
