This essay has to do with what I consider to be the most overlooked (and in my opinion obvious) part of the horoscope. Most of us who are into astrology know about the Lunar nodes. The northern and southern lunar nodes. But what about the eastern and western aspects? That's where I come in. This is by all accounts original research. I would put that on the top of this page; but I just said it right now. Nobody else has ever come up with this or any aspect of this idea as far as I am aware.

I will begin by saying that I call these Eastern and western aspects of the lunar situation apexes. I call them apexes because an apex is the exact opposite of a node. Where a node is a more or less a point, the apex is kind of like the imaginary space given off of that node, respective as to where the node is located. So in this situation that allocates it to the east and west.

The eastern lunar apex I call the "dragon's spine", and the western lunar apex is what I call the "dragon's belly". Now that that's said please read on.

[edit] The "Eastern Apex"

I have to start by saying that I am a Jungian, and believe in the deeper meaning of symbols. The eastern apex I refer to as dragon's spine because what do we think about when we think about the east. I don't know about you but I think about cold, hard, even dangerous. Well that's why I allocate the name dragon's spine because it is the most protective (if you use your imagination) part of the dragon's body beside it's teeth.

[edit] Questions

So that said you may have right now all kinds of questions. Question 1: "What is the designation of the eastern and western apex on my chart?" It is the exact degree and minute (even second) as your lunar nodes. So let's say your Northern node is 15 degrees 34 minutes Libra. Your dragon's spine is 15 degrees 34 minutes Cancer. And vice versa in Capricorn with the dragon's belly.

The other question may be, "okay you've taken a long time, what does the dragon's spine mean in my chart." Remember that we said that east reminds us of cold, hard, dangerous. Well that's exactly what the dragon's spine refers to in your chart. The hardships. What you have to work at; or your demons. Also how you protect yourself; so if in Cancer, you protect yourself pretty much through your emotions for the most part.

[edit] The "Western Apex"

The western apex or dragon's belly is the exact opposite of the dragon's spine. What do we think about when we ponder the west. We think comfortable. Warm, as well as inviting. Well that's exactly what the dragon's belly means in your chart. First let me reiterate by saying that I came up with dragon's belly because in mythology the dragon hoards his riches by his belly even in his belly (especially in our imaginations). So if your dragon's belly is in Capricorn the qualities that are most easy for you are your industriousness, your snobbishness.
