Ligonier Ministries is a Reformed, evangelical, non-profit organization headquartered in the greater Orlando area. Founded by R. C. Sproul in the Ligonier valley outside of Pittsburgh over thirty-five years ago, Ligonier's stated purpose is "to awaken as many people as possible to the holiness of God by proclaiming, teaching, and defending God’s holiness in all its fullness."[cite this quote] Sproul and Ligonier are particularly known for their teaching of Covenant Theology, of which Calvinism is an important facet.
[edit] Activities
Ligonier's main activities include:
- Producing a daily radio and Internet broadcast called "Renewing Your Mind," wherein Sproul teaches systematic theology and the Bible
- Publishing a monthly magazine called Tabletalk
- Selling and distributing audio and print materials by Sproul, John Gerstner, and others
- Publishing The Reformation Study Bible
- Holding conferences in Orlando and, in smaller form, elsewhere around the United States and Canada
In the summer of 2006, Ligonier Ministries launched Reformation Trust Publishing with the stated purpose to release "books true to the historic Christian faith from today's authors," and shortly after it sold its Soli Deo Gloria branch, which reprinted Puritan works.
