Ligat ha'Al 1999-00

The 1999-00 Ligat ha'Al season was the first in its history. The league had been formed to replace the former top division, Liga Leumit, which became the country's second tier. The regular season took place from 12 August 2000 to 22 April 2001.
Before the season started Maccabi Ironi Ashdod F.C. and Liga Alef side Hapoel Ashdod were merged into F.C. Ashdod.
The season took place from the first match on 14 August 1999 to the final match on 27 May 2000. Hapoel Tel Aviv won the title, teams relegated were Hapoel Kfar Saba, Maccabi Herzliya and Hapoel Jerusalem.
One team from Liga Leumit was promoted at the end of the previous season: Maccabi Netanya. The three teams relegated were: Tzafririm Holon, Hapoel Beit She'an and Maccabi Jaffa.

1. Since Hapoel Tel Aviv won both Israeli State Cup and Ligat Ha'Al championship, then the cup-runner-up, Beitar Jerusalem, awarded with entry to the 2000/2001 UEFA Cup.
