Liga Leumit 1955-56

The 1955-56 season was the second edition of Liga Leumit as the top division of football in Israel.
The league ran with 12 clubs; the team that was promoted last season was Maccabi Jaffa. The league used two points for a win and one for a draw.

The title was won by Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Hapoel Kfar Saba and Maccabi Rehovot were relegated.

A promotion-relegation play-off between the 10th-placed team in Liga Leumit, Maccabi Jaffa, and the the 1st-placed team in Liga Alef, Hakoah Tel Aviv.

Maccabi Jaffa 1 – 0 Hakoah Tel Aviv
Hakoah Tel Aviv 1 – 3 Maccabi Jaffa

Maccabi Jaffa won 4-1 on aggregate and remained in Liga Leumit.
