[edit] Biography

Lifelover was formed in 2005 by B and ( ). While primarily a black metal band (especially in their appearance, vocals, much of their guitar work and drums), the band also works with influences from gothic rock and post-punk, with one reviewer comparing them to "The Birthday Party covering old Cure". Others have referred to their sound as being "depressive rock". While many black metal bands do contain many varied elements and influences, Lifelover vary more from the black metal 'norm' then most and can genuinely claim to have a truly unique style, which is sometimes compared to Joyless or Woods of Infinity, though. In 2006, their first album Pulver was released. Whereas their unconventional approach and the innovative lyrics helped Lifelover to become quite popular in a relatively short period of time (the LP version - lim.500 - was sold out in a few months), some people were of the opinion that this album contained too much filler material.

While most of their lyrics are Swedish, there are also some English ones, as for example "Museum of Past Affections" from the album Erotik (2007).They mainly deal with depression, a profound frustration due to the "sterile, distant buildings, a thousand endless fucking streets" (Museum of Past Affections) surrounding the modern homo sapiens, decay, ambivalent emotions and a deeply rooted cynicism.

[edit] Trivia

Lifelover contributed to the GoatowaRex compilation "Speech of Goat" with the track "M/S Salmonella" from "Pulver"
