[edit] Services
There are three main services:
1)LifeOnRecord Weddings
2)LifeOnRecord Events
3)LifeOnRecord Journals.
The weddings and events services are similar enough that their descriptions will be combined below.
[edit] Weddings and Events Service
The weddings and events services are meant to chronicle stories and well wishes that surround events like weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. They can be also used for situations when a person is going through a challenging time, such as a health-care crisis. When people subscribe for the service they are provided with a toll-free number that is communicated to guests through the event invitation or through other means.
People then call with stories and well-wishes for the guest of honor. The recordings are all compiled by the service and are mailed out on a CD, or the subscriber can download the sound files and make their own CD.
[edit] Personal Audio Journal Service
With the Personal Journal Service, the concept is very similar. Subscribers dial a phone number when they remember a thought, story, or when a memorable event occurs.
The idea is that people are likely to have a phone nearby when a memorable event happens. The personal audio journal can be used as a travel journal, a spiritual journal, and other types of personal journals.
After the recordings are made, and edited through the LifeOnRecord web site, the caller can then make their own CDs of the recordings (through the iTunes podcast interface mentioned below), or the company will send CDs through postal mail.
[edit] Listening to the audio recordings
The recordings can be listened to through the following mechanisms:
1)On a password-protected web site.
2)Through email - each recording can be automatically emailed after it is left.
3)Using a telephone.
4)They can be podcasted into iTunes where they can then be loaded to a computer and other devices.
