- Please see "Lieutenant" for other countries which use this rank
Lieutenant is a rank of the Canadian Forces. The rank insignia of a lieutenant is one wide bar with a narrow bar above it. On dress uniforms, the bars are gold thread. On CADPAT and flying uniforms, the bars are olive drab on Army slip-ons, dark blue on Air Force slip-ons, and black on Navy slip-ons.
The British pronunciation "lef-tenant" is used, rather than the American "loo-tenant."
