Lida Hensley

Lida Hensley (January 14, 1925 – December 31, 2006) was the wife of Kirby J. Hensley and was for a period of seven years the President of the Universal Life Church from 1999 - 2006. Prior to being elected President, Lida served as Secretary of the church from its founding.
Lida was born in Relief, North Carolina to Robert and Margaret Gouge. In 1952 she met and married her husband Kirby. In 1954, the Hensleys moved from North Carolina to California. Finally settling in Modesto, California in 1958, founding the first Universal Life Church the next year.
She is the Mother of the current President of the Universal Life Church, Andre Hensley.
Lida was raised in a Christian home, and was the second of four children.[1]
